New chapter for Tennyson RFS begins. ๐Ÿงฏ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’

We are proud to announce that Tennyson has been kitted out with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Over the last year and a half, we have had members become qualified in using this equipment. Theyโ€™ve been training on a district level, with other neighbouring SCBA brigades and attending structure fires as support operators.

SCBA is an essential tool to keep our fire fighters safe from toxic smoke, whether itโ€™s a vehicle fire, structure fire or any other hazardous scenarios.

A massive thank you to the Hawkesbury District Fire Control Centre, training staff and local brigades who have helped us, and of course our members who have taken on the role. This will not only strengthen our capability in Tennyson, but the district too.

Heavy penalties apply for the use of fire when there is a total fire ban

29/11/2025

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Sunday 30 November, for the Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Central Ranges and North Western areas. With hot, dry and windy conditions forecast, much of the state will experience extreme and high fire dangers.

It's important you and your family know the fire risk and what you'll do if fire threatens. Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000). For more information on Total Fire Ban rules, visit the RFS website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr

Extreme Fire Danger โ€“ Saturday 29 November 2025

The Fire Danger Rating for the Hawkesbury District tomorrow, 29 November 2025, is EXTREME.

You should take action now to protect your life and property:
๐Ÿ‘‰ These are dangerous fire conditions.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Check your bush fire plan and ensure that your property is fire ready.
๐Ÿ‘‰ If a fire starts, take immediate action.
๐Ÿ‘‰ If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, go to a safer location well before the fire impacts.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Reconsider travel through bush fire risk areas.

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for tomorrow. This means no fires out in the open may be lit and all fire permits are suspended. Penalties apply for illegal fires.

THE BEST LAID PLANS
Unfortunately, the East Kurrajong Howes Road hazard reduction burn had to be postponed this morning. We had tankers from East Kurrajong, Tennyson, Headquarters, Colo Heights, Blaxlandโ€™s Ridge, Lower Portland, Freemanโ€™s Reach, Upper Colo and Wilberforce, all ready to start burning.

Sadly our test burn ๐Ÿ”ฅ didnโ€™t give us the results we had hoped for due to high moisture ๐Ÿ”ฅโŒโ˜น๏ธ.

GET READY ANIMALS DONE AND DUSTED ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฆฎโœ”๏ธ

OR IS IT? Please ensure you have a discussion with your friends and family about what you are going to do with your animals, fur-babies and love-stock if your property is threatened by a bushfire or you get an emergency alert on your phone.

A huge thanks to our friends from the RFS Community Education team, RSPCA NSW Animal Response Team and NSW Reconstruction Authority for helping us build our โ€˜Animal Ready Communityโ€™.

Congratulations to Chris, the winner of the Cat carrier lucky door prize ๐ŸŽ‰ kindly donated by Ryan from All Pets Pantry at North Richmond.

AND A HUGE THANKS to the members of the Tennyson Rural Fire Brigade who helped make this day a success ๐Ÿ’›.
