COS You Can - Coordination of Supports

COS You Can - Coordination of Supports We have established and continue to build strong, meaningful relationships. At COS You Can, transparency and trust are at the core of everything we do.

With over 20 years of experience in disability support, we proudly support people both locally in the Newcastle and Hunter Region, from Maitland to Scone, and across Australia. 🌟 About COS You Can - Coordination & Support 🌟

At COS You Can - Coordination & Support, we are dedicated to empowering individuals on their NDIS journey. With a unique combination of industry expertise and lived experience

as either participants or carers, our team is here to guide you every step of the way. We proudly offer:
✅ Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Coordination of Support
✅ Capacity Building and Training in Self-Management and Plan Management (CORE Budget)
✅ Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

We are currently accepting Plan Managed and Self-Managed NDIS participants, and we’re actively working on the steps to support Agency Managed participants in the near future.

🌍 Conveniently Located
Our office at 3 Bowden Way, Beresfield NSW, is ideally positioned to support participants across a wide area, with easy access to:
📍 End of Sydney Freeway – just 2 minutes away
📍 Hexham Bridge – only 7 minutes away
📍 Hunter Expressway – a quick 5-minute drive

This central location makes it convenient for us to support participants in the Upper Hunter, Maitland, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Mid North Coast areas. That’s why we provide a detailed schedule of perceived costings at the beginning of each plan. This ensures that:

✔️ We provide a detailed schedule of perceived costing at the beginning of each plan to ensure your funding is used efficiently. Adjustments are made if needs change, and an updated schedule is provided.
✔️ We only charge for phone calls directly with your support services, not to you, unless advised at the time of the call. This is to avoid unexpected charges that can commonly exhaust funding.
✔️ No participant’s funding is exhausted prior to the plan review or plan end. We keep caseloads smaller to ensure every participant receives the personalised attention and support they deserve. Your goals are our priority, and we are committed to helping you achieve them.

🌟 Introducing Laurie James – Our Newest Coordinator of Supports at COS You Can – Coordination & Support 🌟

We are delighted to welcome Laurie James to the COS You Can family as our newest Coordinator of Supports.
At 28 years old, Laurie is a headstrong, career-driven professional whose life experiences have shaped her into a compassionate and grounded Administration Support and Coordinator of Supports. Laurie understands firsthand how quickly circumstances can change and how overwhelming the future can sometimes feel. It’s this empathy and resilience that make Laurie the person you’d want in your corner when life feels uncertain.
Laurie is proudly engaged to an incredibly supportive partner, and together they are raising two vibrant (and delightfully energetic!) children. She’s also a devoted dog mum to her much-loved, cheeky 11-year-old pup—who still behaves like he’s a pup at heart.
Creative at heart, Laurie finds joy in arts and crafts, beach walks, and the occasional burger indulgence. Her love of music ranges from country ballads to party anthems, often resulting in a spontaneous office singalong that brings laughter and energy to those around her.
Professionally, Laurie brings a wealth of experience to her role, with a strong background in medical administration, team leadership, and supporting people living with a disability. Laurie is passionate about empowering individuals to build their capacity, gain independence, and lead meaningful lives. Her interpersonal skills are exceptional—Laurie’s warmth, approachability, and positive outlook are felt by everyone she meets (though she may chat your ear off if given the chance! You have been warned).
While coffee may not be her go-to, Laurie is known for her love of milkshakes, hot chocolates, and the occasional ice-cold can of Coke.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Laurie—an inspiring addition to our growing team. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the incredible impact she’ll make in the lives of those she supports. 💜

🔹 When Should You Request a Change in Situation? 🔹

Life circumstances can change, and so can your support needs. If you're receiving NDIS support, it's important to know when to request a Change in Situation to ensure your plan reflects your current needs.

You may need to request a change if:
✅ Your disability support needs have increased or changed significantly
✅ Your living situation has changed (e.g., moving house, new carers)
✅ Your informal supports (family, friends) can no longer provide the same level of assistance
✅ You’re transitioning to a new stage in life (e.g., school to work, moving out of home)
✅ You’re not receiving enough funding to meet your essential support needs

If any of these apply to you or someone you support, reach out! We can guide you through the process and ensure your plan meets your evolving needs.

Thinking About Changing Your Coordinator of Supports? Here’s What You Need to Know!

Did you know you have the choice and control to change your Coordinator of Supports (COS) if things aren’t working for you? Whether you need better communication, a different approach, or a fresh perspective, you can switch to a COS who truly meets your needs.

When Can I Change?
✅ Anytime during your NDIS plan – you don’t have to wait for a review!
✅ If you’re unhappy with your current support or feel they’re not the right fit.
✅ If your goals or needs change and you need a different type of support.
✅ If your COS isn’t responsive, helpful, or making things easier for you.

How Do I Change?
💡 Check your Service Agreement – It will outline any notice period required.
📞 Find a new COS – Chat with potential coordinators to find the right one for you.
📝 Let your current COS know – A simple email or message is enough (if you feel comfortable).
📂 Update the NDIS portal – Your new COS can help with this if needed.

💙 Your supports should work for YOU! If you’re thinking about a change or have questions, feel free to reach out. Your journey, your choice!

🌏 Australia Day: A Time for Reflection, Gratitude, and Support 🌿

Today, on Australia Day, we reflect on our nation's history — the good, the challenging, and the truth that must never be forgotten.

We honour the resilience, strength, and deep cultural heritage of Australia’s First Nations peoples, acknowledging the profound hurt and destruction caused to Aboriginal communities and cultures. As we move forward, let us strive for unity, understanding, and respect, embracing the wisdom of the oldest continuous culture in the world.

In Australia, we are privileged to live in a country that offers support systems like the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This vital initiative empowers people with disabilities to achieve their goals, live independently, and participate in their communities with dignity. It's a reminder of what can be achieved when we come together as a nation to create opportunities for all.

At COS You Can - Coordination & Support, we’re proud to work alongside individuals and families, providing support coordination to help navigate the NDIS and achieve meaningful outcomes. It’s a privilege to see the strength and determination of the people we support — their stories inspire us every day.

Let’s take today not only to celebrate but also to commit to making Australia a place where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. Together, we can build a future that recognises and respects all voices and creates opportunities for all people.

💛🖤❤️ Always was, always will be.
