MESS/MAKER is the next exhibition launching on Saturday 20 June 🥳

Gallery 1855 will be open from 12pm - 3pm to celebrate this delightful display of over 100 works of art from artists aged 5 to 15. Entry is FREE.

Admire the skill and creativity on show and hang out in the studio to create something fun of your own! Artists and are hosting drop-in creative arts activities in the studio ✂️🎨

Are you a Children's University student? Bring your passport because Gallery 1855 is an official Learning Destination👩‍🎓

This exhibition is delivered with thanks to Camille from Wild Craft Studio, Ting from Enjoy Art and Jaz from Secret Staircase, as well as thanks to every parent and guardian who encouraged their child to create, and supported them to participate in this exhibition ✨

Visit the exhibition during opening hours, 12-5pm Wednesday to Saturday.
This exhibition is open from Wednesday 24 June, and closes 5pm Saturday 18 July.

Gallery 1855 is closed for exhibition change over.

We will reopen for the launch of MESS/MAKER on Saturday 20 June, from 12pm - 3pm. Its a drop-in event with art activities for the whole family.

It's National Volunteer Week!

This week, we celebrate the heart and soul of Gallery 1855, our incredible team of 25 volunteers 💛

Thank you for opening the door each day with a smile, welcoming visitors, nurturing the warm and creative atmosphere, and caring so deeply about our arts community. Your passion, generosity and dedication make this space feel alive.

Common Ground continues to impress with more than 100 works on display.

Open through Saturday 30 May for SA’s History Festival, the exhibition showcases creations from three local art groups: Burragah Art Group, Off the Couch Art Studio Inc., and Tea Tree Studio.

Wander through rooms filled with exquisite paintings, mosaics, woodblock prints, ceramics and textiles.

📆 Gallery 1855 is open on Wednesdays to Saturdays 12pm - 5pm.

Just two more days for kids to enter Mess/Maker!

If you need to share a little inspiration with your young artist, try out this creative abstract watercolour idea by local artist 🥳

Mess/Maker is an exhibition at Gallery 1855 just for artists aged 5–15. It will open on Saturday 20 June, and run for four weeks over the July school holidays. You’ll see over 100 works from young artists as well as interactive displays to join in and create on your visit!

Create together in the studio on Tuesdays 🎨 there are a few spots left for Term 2!

Open Studio is a weekly group where artists create their own work together in the studio space at Gallery 1855.

Drop in with your own art supplies from 11am to 3pm for a social art-making session. Table space or an easel is provided, as is tea and coffee.

Meet Sue (and Barry) 👋 Sue volunteers at the gallery to welcome visitors and coordinate the roster, she helps make sure we always have someone available to gallery sit. Today her gallery sitting afternoon looked a little different!

In her spare time Sue coordinates wildlife rescue for Fauna Rescue SA. If you call the hotline, you might chat to Sue and hear her calm voice as she guides you in what to do next to rescue wildlife.

We’re so grateful to have Sue on the team and so many more wonderful volunteers making this community great ✨

Thank you to the lovely .art who delivered an oil painting en plein air workshop in Pine Park this morning 🌞

The group worked through exercises in colour, tone and composition before creating their pieces, and wishing to paint all day! Thank you to everyone in the group who carved out time for themselves to create in nature today 🌿
