𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍 𝐃𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐉𝐔𝐃𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒!
The tide is turning, as female inductees to the Holstein Australia National Judging Panel continue to grow.

Congratulations to Renee Anderson, Kelly Bleijendaal, Emily Brown and Erin Ferguson - who were recently announced as newly appointed judges to the highly competitive Holstein Australia National Judging Panel.

The numbers do all the talking - with female judges appointed to the panel from the past two judging schools, out numbering their male counterparts an incredible seven to two!

Why do we think this is such a cause for celebration?!

It is no secret that judging has been a male dominated part of our industry for a decades - it hasn't been uncommon in the past for there to be a mere one or two female participants at judging schools.

Of current active members of the Holstein Australia judging panel - which totals 104 judges across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia - only 19 of those are female - which accounts for just 19.76%.

In 2023 - it was an all female group appointed to the panel; Courtney Afford, Georgia Sieben and Casey Treloar. All three women have been active in judging appointments in the time since and continue to go from strength to strength.

And now with four of the six new panel appointments being female - it is a fantastic sign of not just female engagement in judging schools, but also having the skill, confidence and quality in their judging abilities to hold their own and take on panel positions while regularly being approached to judge shows and on-farm challenges throughout the country.

Well done ladies - you should be super proud of this amazing step in your judging future - we can't wait to see what your future holds!

Holstein Australia welcomes 6 new members to the National Holstein All Australian Judges Panel, following a national judging school held at Echuca, Victoria, in May 2026.

21 participants from right across Victoria including Gippsland, Western Victoria, Northern Victoria and the North West region participated at this years event. We thank all the participants who attended the event and the North West Sub Branch for all their time, dedication and commitment to the event.

Our latest preg testing course was an all-women affair — the first time we’ve ever had an entirely female group attend this course. 👏🐄

It was fantastic to see these students getting hands-on experience using the ultrasound machine throughout the course. The future of the cattle industry is in very capable hands! 😊

𝐅𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂 𝐅𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐓 𝐉𝐔𝐃𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋!

There is no question that the future of women in dairy is bright - with an amazing representation of up-and-coming female judges participating in this week's Holstein Australia Judging School.

Beautifully hosted by the North West Sub Branch under the experienced guidance of over judges Jade Sieben (Brindabella Holsteins), Pat Nicholson (Jugiong Jerseys), Vaughn Johnston (Ewen Pine Holsteins) and Wes Brown (Juleanwes Holsteins); the school featured an intensive 3-day program of combined theory and practical work - culminating in the judging day held at Gorbro Holsteins.

They also saw a great range of fantastic cows - visiting Rob and Sue Gundry's - Gunwilla Park, Chad & Kristen Gordon's - Gorgala Holsteins, Ross & Linda Somerville's - Clydebank Holsteins and the famous Jugiong Jerseys of the Nicholson Family.

While results from the judging school are still pending - it was inspiring to see this wonderful group of women - of varying experience levels, ages and breeds - stepping up to learn, grow and push out of their comfort zones.

We adore the work that POW member Casey Treloar does not just for us - but to showcase breeders and elite genetics with her insightful interviews at International Dairy Week, Cowsmo on Cue with Cowsmopolitan, Inc. at World Dairy Expo & the Cremona International Dairy Show, along with the Around the Barn podcast with Declan Patten.

And here is an amazing opportunity to work directly with Casey at the Victorian Winter Fair - which will this year feature both Holstein and Jersey cattle for the first time!

Casey is a brilliant mentor with extensive experience in the media, including her current role with Channel 7 in Adelaide - this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best in the industry!

𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲.𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

What a joy it is to introduce Georgia Doull; a member of the Power of Women in Dairying (POW) committee, who is proof that distance has no bounds when it comes to sharing a passion for dairying.

Georgia’s family has a deep history in dairying in the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland; which she shares in her role with Tableland Veterinary Service, where she manages records and reporting.

“Far North Queensland has a small, but very passionate dairy industry with a long history and I am so proud to play a role in supporting the producers in our region.” says Georgia.

Her links to dairy are strengthened through her sister Anna and her husband Henry, a fifth-generation dairy farmer at Ravenshoe, where they manage the Holstein and Jersey 'Bevandale' prefix.

An annual family highlight for Georgia is the Malanda Show, where showing and being a member of the Malanda Show Society allows her to foster her passion for the industry. A passion which was evident when she was named the 2025 North Queensland Rural Ambassador.

Malanda Show has given her the opportunity to meet breeders from across Australia and provided her introduction to the Bacon family of Brookbora Jerseys - a relationship which has grown into Georgia becoming a part Brookbora team at International Dairy Week.

It was a natural progression for Georgia to extend her network and passion for the industry through becoming involved with POW, to which she brings a beautiful, positive energy and unique perspective given her location and experience.

“POW is a wonderful support system and network for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know women from outside of my own region.”

“It can get tricky when you’re an isolated area like FNQ – so being able to connect with like-minded women from all around the country is really special.” says Georgia.

It is our pleasure to introduce the newly appointed President of Power of Women in Dairying – Kerrie Anderson.

At the heart of Kings Ville Jerseys is Kerrie Anderson and her husband Rob – who along with daughter Holly, milk 280 registered Jerseys in the beautiful rolling hills of Drouin in Gippsland, Victoria.

The Master Breeder Kings Ville herd has bred several bulls who have entered AI programs – with Kerrie utilising her passion for photography to capture bull dams and daughters for catalogues and promotion.

An active member of the Central Gippsland Jersey Fair Committee – Kerrie’s creative flair is on show ringside, helping to create the welcoming fair atmosphere and wonderful celebration of the Jersey breed.

When asked what Power of Women in Dairying means to her – Kerrie says it’s about relationships, working together and celebrating incredible women who contribute so much to the industry, often without recognition.

“It’s a joy to work within this team of talented ladies – I have learnt so much from them all!” says Kerrie.

As the new President of Power of Women in Dairying (POW), Kerrie brings a sense of calm, enthusiasm and positivity that truly sets the tone for the community moving forward.

The first decade of Power of Women in Dairying has seen a movement grow from an inspired dream to a wonderful reality – recognising quiet achievers, gathering like-minded women and creating life-altering opportunities.

From its inaugural years, POW has recognised the far-reaching impact of women within dairying through the ‘Bette Hall Award’, acknowledging individual achievement while shining a light on the contributions made on daily basis.

A range of events held with the support of International Dairy Week and the Victorian Winter Fair have provided a platform to showcase a variety of speakers offering fresh perspectives, practical knowledge and inspirational reflections.

While the World Dairy Expo scholarship has been a catalyst for recipients to take their career in dairying to the next level.

“We are very proud of the impact the World Dairy Expo scholarship; a life-altering trip which broadens industry knowledge and networks, builds confidence and valuable insights into the dairy industry.” says Kerrie.

Leading into the tenth anniversary of POW, the creation of the ‘Cooking with Cows’ cookbook became a special project, marking the decade milestone, celebrating the spirit of the dairying community and contributing to the ability of POW to continue to support women in the dairy industry moving into the next decade.
