Hello everyone,

We had a fabulous start to our new film season with a strong attendance for "Spotswood". It was delightful to see some famous Aussie actors all fresh-faced at the start of their careers (Toni Colette & Russell Crowe in particular), combining with stalwarts towards the end of their acting careers such as Alwyn Kurts & Angela Punch-McGregor.
For anyone who missed this screening don't forget you can borrow the DVD (or any other film) from our archives. Please reach out if you would like to borrow this film.

The Star Box Rating for the previous film
"Spotswood" – Star Box Rating was 4.4 / 5

As we moved "Spotswood" forward from the September slot, our Film Selection Committee have decided on a replacement film. This will be the heartwarming US comedy "Florence Foster Jenkins" starring Meryl Streep & Hugh Grant. We hope you can attend this screening on Friday 19th September. More on this later.

Our film for this Friday 15th August is the 2024 Mexican thriller "Emilia Perez". Nominated for 13 Academy awards & winner of 2, plus winner of 4 Golden Globes & 2 Cannes Festival awards including Jury Prize & Best Actress. Lauded for its daring concept & standout performances, "Emilia Perez" follows the story of feared Cartel leader Juan as he enlists the help of underappreciated lawyer Rita to help him retire from his business & disappear forever - a dangerous assignment that not only puts Rita at risk but also imperils the gangster's family.

Films are screened at the Tarwin Lower Mechanic Institute Hall. Doors open at 6:45pm and the film begins at 7:30pm.
