🐸Happy World Frog Day.🐸
Today is a global awareness day dedicated to frogs and other amphibians. It highlights their vital role in ecosystems—such as controlling insect populations—while also raising awareness of the major threats they face, including habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and disease.
The most common frog our teams encounter in the field is the Eastern Dwarf Tree Frog, a small, delicate species native to eastern Australia. It is commonly found around wetlands, ponds, and even suburban gardens, especially in the Sydney area.

Meet Homalanthus populifolius — the elegant Bleeding Heart Tree. 🌿❤️

Native to eastern Australia, this rainforest and moist gully dweller is known for its lush, delicate heart-shaped foliage. While not the brightest flower showstopper, its calming green tones and graceful form add quiet beauty to our bushlands. As its foliage ages, its green leaves can flush deep red, burgundy, or copper tones.❤️

It is Aussie Pollinator Week! a good time to have a nature-inspired picnic In your backyard or a local park and recognize the crucial role of pollinators in our food and ecosystem. After your feast, you can become a citizen scientist by participating in the Australian Pollinator Count (link in bio) for 10 minutes and contribute to understanding our insect pollinators' status.🌼🦋🐝🐜🌺 [ID: 'Australian Pollinator Week', A photo of a Lesser Wanderer butterfly pollinating a flower.]

Another Bossiaea (Bossiaea buxifolia); this resilient species ranges from 0.5m to 1.5m, thrives in dry sclerophyll woodland and forest, often finding its home in sandy soils and rocky outcrops. Its distinctive foliage varies, showcasing alternate elliptic leaves, green to bluey-green in colour. During spring and early summer the solitary pea-shaped flowers with orange-yellow standards and purple keels bloom in leaf axils, creating a picturesque scene.Known for its versatility, it adapts to a variety of conditions, from the central coast to the western slopes. Bossiaea is one of our favourite species to encounter in the wild. Share your observations and connect with fellow nature enthusiasts!

The Red Browed Finch (Neochmia temporalis) is characterized by its distinctive fiery red brow, rump, and beak that stand out against its green and grey plumage. Often found in groups of up to 10 or more, these finches love mingling with fellow seed-eating birds, such as Red-rumped Parrots and The Superb Fairy-wren. On your next nature exploration, keep an eye out for these sociable foragers as they flit about.[ID: A Red Browed Finch photographed through the scrub as he keeps lookout on a log .]
