TIDE: Taree Indigenous Development & Enterprise Ltd.

TIDE: Taree Indigenous Development & Enterprise Ltd. TIDE is an Aboriginal owned, non-profit, charity providing a wide range of services to communities of the Mid North Coast of NSW.

18/01/2026

Over the past year, TIDE has experienced significant internal disruption that has prevented it from operating as intended.

Serious concerns were raised about governance, membership rights, and decision-making processes. Unlawful attempts have been made to change the TIDE Constitution. A number of long-standing members were informed they had been removed without due process, and requests were made for formal confirmation of these actions or for them to be tested in court. To date, those matters remain unresolved.

As a result of these disputes, normal activities have been stalled, access to organisational functions has been restricted, and TIDE has been unable to carry out its original mission.

We have sought assistance from the Australian Charities and Not For Profit Commission (ACNC) and from the Australian Investments and Securities Commission (ASIC) and legal action in the Federal Court is being considered.

We are posting this update so the community understands that TIDE’s current inactivity is not due to a loss of purpose or community support, but because of unresolved internal and legal issues.

We will continue to keep you informed and will share next steps as soon as clarity is achieved.

Thank you to everyone who has stood by us during this difficult period.

We’re calling on local Aboriginal artists!

Thanks to funds raised by the Hastings Cancer Trust, Wauchope District Memorial Hospital is commissioning a unique artwork to create a culturally welcoming and healing space for patients and their families.

We’re seeking seven steel panel designs representing the Birpai totems or culturally significant items of the Wauchope area. This artwork will permanently feature the hospital’s outdoor sitting area.

📅 EOI closes: 20 April 2025

✅ Open to Aboriginal artists - especially those from the Wauchope Birpai nation.

You don’t have to be a publicly known artist to apply. If you or someone you know would love to contribute to this meaningful project, reach out today, share this post, and let them know.

A BIG welcome to our first group of students from Taree High School, who will spend the next 3 days with us in Newcastle as part of our community exchange program!

Our Walkabout Barber Newcastle Experience has been designed to provide young people living in rural or remote communities, the opportunity to dream big, to believe in themselves and to achieve big things in life, by spending time with successful business owners, entrepreneurs, and sporting professionals, to inspire them to rise above their fears and to achieve greatness!

Over the the next 3 days, these young men and women will be taken through cleansing and healing workshops, participate in team building exercises, attend a VIP Corporate NRL experience (Bunnies vs Roosters) as well as taking time out to visit Luna Park, go jet boating, ice skating, to movies and go karting!

Thank you to Biripi ACMC for funding and supporting the youth within your community to attend important programs such as ours, to help build your next group of leaders for the future!
