Today Safe Steps proudly acknowledges National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.

This year, the theme is “Strong in Culture, Stronger Together” to focus on the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children that comes from their connection to culture, family and community.

Organisations are encouraged to celebrate Children’s Day by bringing Elders, families and their children together for storytelling and cultural activities. We will be sharing craft activities with all of the children in our service.

Host your own cultural activities by checking out SNAICC’s Activity Kit developed especially for Children’s Day:https://www.snaicc.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/240508-Childrens-Day-activity-sheet.pdf

Remember - posting and commenting on social media isn't without consequences. This morning, I saw a lot of negative and potentially hurtful things on social media, so I want to take a moment to remind everyone that you don't know the person you're impacting, their state of mind, or their emotional and mental well-being.
Just because you may not know them or never see them doesn't mean you're free from the responsibility of having a negative or positive impact on someone's emotions.
So, before you write, take a moment to think and maybe ask yourself, "What kind of influence or impact do I want to have?" before sharing your message.

Our Support After Su***de Bereavement Groups provide support to adults who have faced the loss of a loved one through su***de.

Led by a dedicated su***de bereavement group facilitator and a co facilitator with lived experience of su***de, they foster a safe space for participants to openly discuss their feelings and challenges.

Attendees are encouraged to join as they feel the need, and everyone is welcome. Each meeting is centred around a different topic, yet the discussions are guided by the group's collective preferences, allowing participants to address and share what matters most to them in a supportive environment.

The next session details for the Online Group are:

📆 Wednesday, 14th August
