This Thursday, OzFish is hosting a stall at the MidCoast council Sustainability Centre Open Day in Tuncurry. We will be accepting unwanted fishing gear and donating it to a local school for their fishing club. Come say g'day and drop off your gear!

Thanks to everyone that attended yesterday!
First we visited a property in Stewarts River and heard from the MidCoast council biosecurity team about aquatic weeds. This involved releasing a weevil to control salvinia.
After some lunch from Mojoz Cafe, we heard from Sal from MidCoast Council on the River Revival program. We also had Scott from the Clarence River Guardian program discuss water quality monitoring. And finally, Sophie from Landcare to discuss project ideas for the Manning region.

Thanks to everyone that helped on the weekend!
We cleaned up over 20kg of litter from Manning Point - including 167 cigarette butts!! Some of the crew even collected a big piece of styrofoam from the water, a tyre and lot's of litter bits of plastic.
There were lot's of very appreciative locals that came and said g'day and thank you.
Hopefully everyone can make it to the next event!
Big thanks to Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare and Manning Coastcare for partnering and doing some weeding too. And Old Bar Lions Club for supplying the BBQ goods.

TONIGHT’s virtual event is your last chance to join the conversation around the future health of NSW’s waterways.

Over the past month, the NSW Community Water Quality Tour has brought together researchers, rec fishers and community groups for lively discussions, fascinating insights and inspiring ideas about how we can work together for healthier waterways and better fishing.

If you couldn't make one of the regional events, you have one final opportunity to be part of the conversation – no matter where in NSW you live, work and fish.

OzFish will be hosting the tour’s one and only online session tonight – Thursday, 23 July, from 7pm to 9pm.

Professor Kirsten Benkendorff of Southern Cross University, marine biologist Dr Ben Diggles, and aquatic veterinary specialist Dr Matt Landos will offer their insight and expertise on some of the biggest challenges facing NSW waterways today.

The session will end with an open discussion – your local knowledge and firsthand observations could play a vital role in turning conversation into community action!

We all know an OzFisher who goes above and beyond, the person leading the charge at every workshop or assisting others learn more about our fisheries. Now is the time to give them a shout-out.
