What a team!!! Last weekend we removed hundreds of Corflute & wire guards from Pekina Creek, Price Maurice Rd, Ashley's & Rocky Gully in preparation for our June planting weekend.
The growth on most plants is phenomenal after our exceptionally good rains over the last couple of months. Most plants were bursting out of guards & certainly ready to be "released".
Thanks to Biggrabba, Kai, Rainsy, Marc, Ingrid, Grainne, Jack, Mike, Cooper, Linda & June for a mighty effort.
Flies were also out in force.
It was great to see Linda back for a visit before she takes off on another overseas adventure.
Happy 30th birthday to Kai. We've watched him grow into a very special man since he was just a small kid. We're all very fond of him & his commitment to Tarcowie & the environment is unwavering.
We also revisited some photos taken of plantings in 2004 & 2005. It brought home just how much of a journey we've been on over the last 25 years.

This Autumn, give fountain grass the boot 🥾 - go native instead 🌱✅!

Soft. Fluffy. Stylish …but a problem! …not a great neighbour 🌾😬.

Fountain Grass (Cenchrus setaceus) looks right at home in the garden – but it’s actually a declared w**d in South Australia, and many people don’t realise they’ve got it growing at home.

Those fluffy plumes are expert travellers ⌯✈︎
They spread easily, crowd out native plants and leave behind seeds that can hang around for up to 10 years. That’s a long-term guest 😱.

It’s also related to other declared species like buffel grass and innocent w**d – not exactly the family tree you want in your backyard.

✅ The good news: you don’t have to give up that grassy garden look – you can still get the look without the risk.

🌱 Native alternatives like Coastal Tussock Grass (Poa poiformis) and Knobby Club-rush (Ficinia nodosa) are hardy, attractive and give you texture, movement and resilience – minus the environmental issues.

📘 Check out our native grass guides or chat to a local native plant nursery.

🥾 Seen this plant in your garden? Autumn’s a great time to give Fountain Grass the boot and go native instead. Your local plants (and wildlife) will thank you 🌱
