Dig Day is on this Saturday 16th May starting at 10am. And post dig day shuttles are on the cards! 🚠

We are also in for some great weather a forecast for sunny weather and 18 degrees on top of already amazing hero dirt right now. BBQ lunch will also provided. This is set to be our best dig day yet this year. If you haven’t made it to a dig day yet, this is your sign.

Join us for this month’s dig day on Saturday 16th May starting at 10am. Flow State has been a trail enjoyed by many, but as it heads into a third season it does need some love to keep it running awesome. The refurbishing of Flow State will involve resurfacing jumps and berms and improving drainage ahead of winter.

Dig Day will be followed up with a BBQ lunch at 12:30pm and we will head for a ride afterwards.

It’s no surprise that mountain biking has great benefits for the local economy, not to mention the social, environmental and health benefits of the sport.

The most recent report conducted for Mountain Bike Network - Tasmania, measures the economic impact that MTB tourism has made to Tasmania noting that it MTB visitors annually spend $149.7 million and directly and indirectly supports 610 FTE jobs.

To capitalise in this growth, the report recommends further consolidating existing networks and our existing proposal for a public trail network should be considered to further grow mountain biking experiences. The Feasibility Assessment Framework was published in 2024 to assess suitability of MTB developments, and to our knowledge our proposal is the first to be assessed using these criteria. The results matched or even exceeded the score of other established destinations largely due to the fact that we have already established a riding community and the coastal location with significant elevation available alongside a classic coastal dolerite environment means that our proposal is hard to replicate in other areas. It was a smaller turnout to this month’s dig day, but it was still a productive day.

✅In case you haven’t already heard already, Upper Sticky Chicken is now open for riding. We still have a couple of alternative lines and high lines to open up, but the main riding lines are complete.

✅Gave Sixpack and a Tin of Tuna a rake and removed a couple of fallen limbs on Flight Path from the winds the night before.

✅Started clearing away drains on Flow State

Next Month’s dig day will be on Saturday 16th May starting at 10am. We will be winter proofing Flow State by clearing out the remaining drains as well as a full refurb including reshaping of berms and jumps. Hope to see you there.

Dig Day is on this Saturday 18th April starting at 10am. We will be adding the finishing touches to Upper Sticky Chicken running parallel to the Telstra Line Fire Trail. We will also be doing some winter proofing works to Flow State and Flight Path including clearing and improving drainage as well as reshaping some of the jumps.

Over the last three days we have had around 20mm of rain with more forecasted this week meaning the trails are wet. However most of the trails are holding up well with the usual soft patches on Flow State and Flight Path. There is still very soft dirt on the most recent trail work, but with a dry weekend forecast, trail conditions should be optimal. Join us for a BBQ at 12:30 followed by some riding.

🌿Important Update🌿

Following market leading research and statistical analysis, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to manicure and smooth all of our trails and make way by paving the trails with asphalt which will be completed by the end of this morning. This will assist in reducing the maintenance burden of the park. It was deemed that most riders prefer this new type of riding experience over rocks and roots as evidenced by Strava and Trailforks heat maps.

We know that this is a very controversial alteration. For those who are concerned around this change, you can either donate to the Tasman Peninsula Mountain Bike Association or attend an upcoming dig day to help out and voice your concerns. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

TPMBA

Here’s some of what we have been getting up to last dig day. This new trail currently in the works has some awesome slabs and line choices available. Starting at the top of the Telstra Line Fire Trail and linking into Drop Bear or Sticky Chicken is going to make for an awesome if hectic DH lap.

Next Dig Day is on the 18th April. We are aiming to start the build of our new shelter and throw some laps down on the new trail. Thanks to those who turned up to the dig day this month!

Dig Day is on this Saturday from 10am. We will be winter proofing the climbing trail and Flight Path which involves clearing drains and loose rocks and reinforcing sections of trail that are more vulnerable to accumulated rainfall.

We have commenced work for the dedicated shelter and barbeque area at the Car Park kudos to our volunteers for terracing and earthworks to prepare the site.

There is also a new jump on Flight Path halfway down the trail because there’s simply no such thing as too many jumps. The jump itself is currently closed off as the soil is still very dry but we hope to open it next week after some rain.

Dig Day will be on Saturday 21st March. We will be giving Flow State some much needed love.

Thanks to everyone who came to a dig day this summer as well as those supporting the club when heading out for a ride. The turnout to the last dig day was great to see.

Dig Day is on again this Saturday 21st February where we will continue to be working on a new downhill trail. We will be starting off at 10am followed by a BBQ lunch.

Thanks to more consistent rain the past couple of weeks, the dirt is rolling fast with more rain in the forecast mid next week.
