A very proud family moment.....

Our wonderful RSL Tanunda President Dave Babbage, recently experienced a very proud father and grandfather moment.

Dave completed 40 years of Army service reaching the rank of Major and his son, Warrant Officer Damien Babbage is also a serving member with 20 years service under his belt.

And now, Dave’s grandson and Damien’s son Dylan has graduated from Kapooka First Recruit Training Battalion in Wagga Wagga.

As the whole Babbage family came together, Dave said 'It was one of the proudest and most significant moments of my life to stand next to my son Damien and watch the third generation of Babbages complete their army training'.

Thank you for your service Babbage family.....

It's that time of the week again....fabulous Friday when 'The Hut' will open from 5pm onwards.

It is a tad cold out, so what better way to warm up and welcome the weekend in than to enjoy the warm welcome of your local Veteran community while enjoying a glass or two of a good Barossan red.

You don't need to be a member of an RSL and you don't need to have served in Defence to attend.

'The Hut' will be open from 5pm, great snacks, drinks at happy hour prices and a very warm welcome awaits.....

It is so quintessentially Australian.....the sausage sizzle.

And we all know, halfway through eating, you will enviably realise you have eaten part of the napkin. But that's perfectly okay as it adds extra fibre to your diet and it is an essential part of the sausage sizzle experience.....😋

Today, we acknowledge the passing of retired Combat Assault Dog, Manic.

Manic served with distinction alongside the 2nd Commando Regiment where he became one of Australia’s elite combat assault dogs.

In retirement, he continued to serve by shining a light on the bond between Military Working Dogs and their handlers.

In 2025, Manic was awarded the inaugural Australian Animal Distinguished Service Award at the Australian War Memorial.

Beyond the service and recognition, Manic was deeply loved by his handler Jason and the nation.

Rest easy dear Manic. Your watch is over.....
