Yesterday our Serendipity Tamworth President, Susan Goodwin, visited the Tamworth Hospital 🏥 to meet with Physiotherapist, Danielle Hand, to look over the new Innofit Active Passive Assistive Trainer that the Serendipity Committee have purchased for the patients in the Rehab Unit.

The Innofit allows the patients to be wheeled into the trainer, so there is no lifting for the patients or the staff, and the machine works the upper and lower limbs.

The Rehab Unit has a range of patients - Breast Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Mastectomy, Prostate Cancer, Stroke, Amputees, Neurological, MS, wheelchair 🦽 bound, and the Innofit will benefit so many of these patients.

A visit to the North West Cancer Centre this morning to deliver 100 Pink Serendipity bags 🛍️ and more magazines and crossword puzzle books 📚 for the patients.

The pink bags are given to all new patients when they start their treatment so they can store their clothes and/or their treatment garments 👖.
The magazines and puzzles help to fill the time and amuse the mind while waiting for treatment.

Serendipity also provide Treatment Robes and Pants for patients, as well as MooGoo (a milk based product that is great for the skin after treatment).

A visit to Inala House 🏡 this week by Serendipity President, Susan Goodwin, to check in with the manager, Lucy.

Serendipity has just purchased 4 new King Single beds 🛌 for the rooms and also new Quilts and Shower 🚿 curtains.

Lucy said the beds are really appreciated by the patients and their carers as the are so comfortable 🥰 and that really helps when you are having treatment and need a good night’s sleep 😴.

Inala House is a 10 bedroom accommodation facility for regional cancer patients having treatment at the North West Cancer Centre at the Tamworth Hospital 🏥 run by the Cancer Council.

Serendipity also provide the Wi-fi for Inala House to enable visitors to stay connected to family at home and also work while they are having treatment.

Serendipity Tamworth have been so lucky this year to have the support of so many local groups raising funds and awareness.

In October one of our committee members (and a cancer survivor), Bec Roach, with the help of her friends hosted a Spring Lunch.

Bec spoke about her cancer journey and the group enjoyed a delicious lunch and fun 🤩 afternoon.

Raffles and Balloon🎈Pops (with fabulous prizes donated by local businesses 🙏) raised over $5,500 and with another generous donation of $5,000, the afternoon raised an amazing $10,500.

It was also wonderful to see Serendipity founding member Bev Barnsley at the lunch.

We are a little bit late with this big Thank You 🙏 to Manilla Services Club for their wonderful 3 day Pink Festival held in October raising awareness of Breast Cancer,
raising money for Serendipity Tamworth and having a fun 🤩 time with lots of music 🎵 🎸🥁 and laughter 😂.

Thank you 🙏 for your donation and also Thank You 😊 to the McManamon family for their generosity also.

Serendipity will use the money to support local cancer patients.

Our next project is some new beds 🛏️ for Inala House (the accomodation facility at the hospital for region cancer patients) along with some new doonas and shower curtains.

Serendipity Tamworth have some new Hot 🔥 Pink Caps 🧢 and Bucket Hats 🤠 in their merchandise range at a great price of $15.00.

The caps have a Velcro easy fit adjustment at the back and are a fabulous fit 👍.

Pictured is Serendipity Committee Member Marjorie Keech delivering 23 Share the Dignity “It’s in the bag”bags to Bunnings.

Thank you to the local pharmacies, hair salons and Serendipity members who generously donated items to make up the bags.

The bags will be given to women in need.

Cancer touches so many people and affects so many families…
this is why it is so important to raise awareness and also care for our local cancer patients.

During October Serendipity received so much support from the Tamworth community…
and we were so very grateful 🥰.
