💙 Celebrating Women, Stories & Community 💙

We are incredibly proud to be part of the launch of Women of Big Sky Country, Our Legacies alongside Sora Community Services and an inspiring group of community partners.

This initiative is more than just a book, it’s about:
✨ Showcasing real career journeys and life pathways
✨ Inspiring young people, especially young women, to see what’s possible
✨ Highlighting the power of community, resilience and leadership

At Careers Network, we’re passionate about connecting young people to opportunity, and events like this play a huge role in building confidence, aspiration and future pathways 💭

A big thank you to Sora for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful project, and to all the incredible women who shared their stories, your impact reaches further than you know 💫

👏 Proudly supported by an incredible network of organisations working together to empower our region.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Tamworth book launch of 'Women of Big Sky Country, Our Legacies' today!

We had about 100 people there to celebrate the incredible women in the book and in our communities. Pictured are 12 of the 31 amazing women featured in the book.

There are still spaces available at our Armidale and Inverell launch events. Come along and meet some of the women from the book, includes guest speakers, entertainment, and refreshments, bringing together local women, their families and friends, businesses, community leaders, and community.

Food will be provided.

RSVP is essential. Limited numbers.

🌟 Anthony Out in the Community Making Connections! 🤝

Anthony has been out and about building strong relationships across the region. From catching up with local services to introducing himself to new partners, he’s been busy learning about the incredible work happening in the area and exploring how we can continue to collaborate, support, and strengthen community outcomes.

These conversations help us better understand local needs, share information about our programs, and create meaningful partnerships that make a real difference.

Anthony is our Inverell based Youth Pathways Coordinator for the Get Back in the Game program, a one-on-one support initiative for young people aged 15–21 who have disengaged from school, training, or employment.

Careers Network delivers this program across the New England and North West region, helping young people set goals, overcome barriers, and take practical steps toward their future.

If you spot Anthony out in the community, be sure to say hello! 👋

🌐 Virtual Work Placement 🌐

This week some of our students across the region completing Information Digital Technology (IDT) completed a Virtual Work Placement.

The program, delivered entirely online via Microsoft Teams, was run in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Commonwealth Bank (CBA), Accenture, and IBM and offered students an incredible opportunity to connect with leading industry professionals and explore careers in technology.

Throughout the week, students:
💻 Discovered how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used in modern workplaces
🤝 Took part in hands-on online workshops and mentoring sessions
🧩 Collaborated on a group project with peers from across NSW
💬 Gained real-world industry insights and exposure to future career pathways

It was inspiring to see our students embrace new learning environments and make the most of this innovative virtual experience. Well done👏

🌟 Work Placement Success at Lake Keepit! 🌟

We are so proud of the O'Connor Catholic School students who are completing their fitness work placement at beautiful Lake Keepit, NSW. 💪🏽🏞️

During their time, students have gained hands-on experience in health, fitness, and outdoor education, developing practical skills while working in a real-world environment. This placement not only strengthened their knowledge but also built teamwork, resilience, and confidence.

The students have participated and instructed in various activities such as Archery, Canoeing, Fishing and Damper Cooking. They even ran a mini Olympics for a visiting school on their first night!

A huge thank you to the team at Lake Keepit for supporting these students and helping them grow in both skill and character. 🙌

👏 Well done to all involved—you’ve represented O’Connor with pride!

One of our current students that has just completed their first Work Placement and returning for their second placement soon with a student that completed the same Work Placement for their HSC 18 months ago.

We are so lucky to having such amazing employers!

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Year 11 Oxley High School student, James, for his work experience placement. He spent his time learning the ropes alongside our techs, Cameron and Kumar.

Fun little full-circle moment - Cameron (on the left) actually started out with us as a work experience student too, just two years ago. He’s now a key part of the Entourage team and has been with us for nearly 18 months.
