Tamworth Water Security Alliance

Tamworth Water Security Alliance Predictions of lower rainfall, less runoff and higher evaporation rates will negate the effectiveness of our current water storage.

Tamworth Water Security Alliance represents community groups and individuals who support cost effective, diverse and sustainable water supply options for Tamworth Regional Council. Tamworth Water Security Alliance represents community groups and individuals who support cost effective, diverse and sustainable water supply options for Tamworth regional. Public money should be spent on securing Tamwo

rth’s water security through promoting efficient use, recycling, storm water harvesting, water tanks and other options. Tamworth is a large city on a small river that cannot keep giving up more water. The Peel River is part of the broader Namoi and Darling River catchments. Water sharing arrangements and agreements under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan must be taken into account. Many options are available to improve the security of Tamworth’s water supply that don’t put additional pressure on the health of the Peel River, its native fish, platypus and other species.

Tamworth Open Garden Trail is on again for 2025!

If you know someone with a suitable garden, or you would like your own garden included, please reach out to us via this post. The committee will be reviewing submissions this month.

Our aim is to revisit some of the gardens again to show what 12 months has achieved, but we are also keen to include new gardens for this year's event.

We are looking for gardens that are:
- water wise;
- produce food for their owners; and
- promote native biodiversity.

You too can be part of this energising local event! Don't hesitate to reach out!

If you live in NSW and you care about the future of our natives, as well as the welfare of pets, it's time to make a submission that could have real effects!

Indoor cats live an average of 10 years longer than outside cats. They aren't at risk of disease, and they don't get hit by cars. We would never be comfortable with our dogs roaming the streets or paddocks, so why is it acceptable for our cats to do so?

If you live near others, guaranteed your garden has been a host to cats that aren't yours. Even apart from spreading the miscarriage causing disease toxo to your vege patch, cats leave their droppings everywhere too. It's gross and shouldn't be allowed to happen.

If you can't afford to care for your pet, then you can't afford a pet. Same as if you can't afford a horse, don't get one - if your care plan for cats means letting them roam then that is not good enough.

And then there are the BILLIONS of native animals that cats kill every year. This has to stop.

New laws are being considered for NSW, support them by making a submission

The Office of Local Government (OLG) has published a discussion paper as the first step in a review of the Companion Animals Act 1998 (CA Act).
