How times have changed !
I remember in the 1980s -90s how NSW RFS where taking our old tankers ie Inters Bedfords and Leylands when CFA upgraded to modern tankers , Japanese built

A time when Victorian governments gave us up to date equipment to tackle bushfires

Currently RFS and ACT fire services are trading in tankers to the Auctions that are years ahead of our fleet now - dual cab, aircon etc
Maybe we should look at purchasing them to replace our old fleet !!!

🚒 Annual Brigade Working Bee 🚒

It’s that time of year again! Our Annual Working Bee is coming up and we’d love to see as many members there as possible.

📅 Sunday 16th August 2026
🕘 9:00am – 11:00am
📍 Talgarno Fire Shed

We’ll be tackling a range of important jobs to make sure our brigade is ready for the upcoming fire season, including:

✅ Appliance checks
✅ Quick fill testing
✅ Hose testing
✅ General shed and grounds clean-up
✅ Equipment maintenance and inspections

If you can spare a couple of hours, we’d really appreciate your support.

🚨Additional Wood Chop Going Ahead🚨

If you are free this Sunday the 2nd of August please head on down to Michael Elliot’s at 9am.

We have had increased demand for more loads of wood to be sold to the community and we would love the extra support to fulfill these orders.

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE ⚠️

A series of cold fronts is forecast to move across Victoria from Wednesday to Friday, bringing widespread moderate to heavy rainfall, with up to 200 mm possible across parts of north-east Victoria.

This rainfall may lead to minor to moderate flooding from Wednesday, with isolated major flooding possible. The Kiewa River catchment remains a concern, with a current Flood Warning in place.

Damaging winds, locally destructive wind gusts, and large hail are also possible as the system moves across the state.

The SES Tallangatta Unit has crews organised and ready to respond over the coming days and will be monitoring conditions closely.

Be prepared:
✅ Secure loose outdoor items.
✅ Clear gutters and drains if it's safe.
✅ Never drive through floodwater – If it's flooded, forget it.
✅ Stay up to date with weather forecasts and warnings.

Look after yourself, your family, and your neighbours, and stay informed as conditions develop.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Talgarno Rural Fire Brigade Winter Raffle. We had another very successful fundraiser and feel very grateful for the community support.
