Art of the Unspoken with Dr Richard Wu

Join us for a richly illustrated presentation exploring the quiet power of classical Chinese landscape painting.

Sydney-based psychiatrist and Chinese ink painter Dr Richard Wu will guide audiences through classical Chinese landscape masterpieces, revealing how mountains, lakes, empty space, fishermen and travellers become metaphors for our inner worlds.

Drawing on his long-standing research into Chinese art, philosophy and Western psychotherapy, Dr Wu will explore how these works invite us to reflect on nature, the self, and the teachings of Daoism and Buddhism.

Meet Dr Richard Wu, speaker of our upcoming presentation Art of the Unspoken.

Dr Wu is a Sydney-based psychiatrist and Chinese ink painter. For over twenty years, he has published and given talks on the connections between Chinese art, philosophy and Western psychotherapy.

He is the former Chair of the Psychotherapy and Culture Section of the International Federation of Psychotherapists (IFP), and has presented on Chinese art and history at forums held at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, the National Art School, Sydney, and the Art Gallery of NSW.

Join Dr Wu as he explores how classical Chinese landscape painting opens a visual pathway into nature, inner life, Daoism and Buddhism.

Join us this Saturday for a richly illustrated presentation exploring classical Chinese landscape painting as a visual language of nature, philosophy and the inner world.

Dr Richard Wu, a Sydney-based psychiatrist and Chinese ink painter, will guide audiences through masterpieces where mountains, lakes, empty space and small human figures reveal deeper ideas of Daoism, Buddhism and humanity’s place in nature.

With more than twenty years of experience speaking and publishing on Chinese art, philosophy and Western psychotherapy, Dr Wu brings a distinctive and deeply engaging perspective to this special presentation.
