Curl Curl Dogs

Curl Curl Dogs Bringing together local dog owners in Curl Curl and the surrounding Northern Beaches.

Wow… 800 followers!

When Curl Curl Dogs first started, we simply wanted to bring our community together around a shared love of dogs, our coastline and responsible dog ownership.

Since then, we’ve met so many incredible locals, cleaned beaches, restored dunes, spoken with Council, supported wildlife education, created our Puppy Play Station, started community walks and connected with some amazing local businesses and organisations.

Whether you’ve liked a post, picked up an extra piece of rubbish, planted a dune, shared an idea, donated a toy, joined us for a walk or simply cheered us on…thank you! Every little bit helps 🫶

This page has become so much more than a campaign. It’s a community of people who care about our dogs, our environment and the shared spaces we all enjoy.

We’re excited for what’s still to come, and we’d love you to be part of it.

Here’s to the next 800! 🐾🌱🌊

📸 Help Us Capture Curl Curl This August!

We’re inviting our community to help us build a snapshot of how the middle section of Curl Curl Beach is being used during the times proposed for a weekday trial.

Throughout August, if you’re already passing by the beach:

🗓️ Monday to Friday
⏰ Before 10:00am or after 5:00pm
📸 We’d love you to snap a quick photo of the middle section of the beach.

To kick things off, we’ve shared one of our own observations from July as an example.

If you can, please include the date and time (or send it to us with your photo).

Whether the beach is empty, has a few walkers, surfers or families enjoying the space, every observation helps us build a more complete picture of how this area is being used during the proposed trial times.

‼️ Please be respectful of other beach users. If people are visible in your photo, we’d appreciate it if you could avoid capturing identifiable faces or blur/crop them before sending it through.

…Although, based on our observations throughout July, we have a feeling you might not have anyone to blur! 😜

We’ll be reposting your posts to add to our highlight collection 🤓

Thank you for helping us build a thoughtful, responsible and community-led campaign. Every observation helps. 🐾

Curl Curl Dogs Walks for Sick Kids 💙

One of our wonderful local community members recently introduced us to this fantastic initiative, and it’s something we’d love to get behind as a community.

From 1 July, you can take part in Paws for Sick Kids by walking your dog anywhere, anytime, while helping raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Sydney and supporting families with seriously ill or injured children.

As dog lovers, we’re already out walking our four-legged friends…why not make those walks count for an incredible cause?

We’d love to see the Curl Curl Dogs community get involved!

If you sign up, tag Curl Curl Dogs in your walks throughout July. We’ll happily share your stories and celebrate the amazing difference our community is making together.

Let’s get our paws moving for a great cause! 💙🐾

🐾 Community Update 🐾

A big thank you to a local community member who recently brought this drainage issue at our dog park to our attention.

We’ve since reached out to Council to see whether there may be opportunities to improve the area. One idea we’ve suggested is the use of native plants that thrive in wet conditions and may help absorb excess water, while also improving the space for wildlife and the community.

One of the things we love most about this page is hearing from locals about ways we can make our little dog park even better.

If you have any concerns, ideas, positive feedback, maintenance issues, or community suggestions, please send us a message. We can’t promise we’ll fix everything, but we’re always happy to listen, help where we can, and raise issues with the appropriate people when needed.

After all, this is your dog park too 🐾🌱💚

🌱 Dune Planting Day. This Saturday 🌱

Our dunes play an important role in protecting our coastline, supporting native vegetation and providing habitat for local wildlife.

This Saturday, we’ll be joining the community to help plant and restore our local dunes, and we’d love to see some familiar (and new!) faces there.

There are jobs for all ages and abilities, making it a great way to get the family outdoors, meet other locals and give back to the environment we all enjoy.

For us, caring for our dunes and shared spaces is an important part of being responsible dog owners and active members of the community.

🌱 Saturday 6 June
⏰ 2pm–4pm
📍North Curl Curl - by the Dunes

Come lend a hand, get a little sandy, and help protect our coastline for future generations!

One plant at a time, one step closer to the kind of community we want our dogs to be part of 🌱🐾

A huge thank you to Keirle Park Tennis Centre 🎾 for donating their old tennis balls to our Puppy Play Station at Curl Curl Dogs.

Not only are they helping keep our fluffy friends entertained, but they’re also doing their part to recycle and reduce waste ♻️💚

We’d love if everyone could please use and return the balls after play so other pups in the community can continue to enjoy them too.

And if anyone has toys or dog goodies they’d like to donate to the Play Station, feel free to send us a message or drop it off at the PlayStation 🐶🌱

Our dunes do more than we realise 🌱

They help protect our coastline from erosion, support native vegetation and provide habitat for local wildlife. Without healthy dunes, our beaches wouldn’t be the same.

That’s why we’re inviting the community to join us for dune planting on the 6th of June from 2pm–5pm.

Everyone is welcome; young and old. There’ll be jobs of all different levels of physicality and complexity, and it’s a great way to get the family outdoors and involved in caring for our local environment.

Every small action matters. Showing up for our dunes, our coastline and our shared spaces is one step closer towards building the kind of respectful community we want our dogs to be part of too! 🐶

Save this post or share it with your fellow dune-saving buddy!

We’d love to see you there 🌱🐾

A little throwback to our dune restoration day on the 27th of April 🌱🐾

What a huge success!

It was so great meeting more locals, getting the kids outdoors and seeing everyone (big and small) get involved in caring for our coastline.

As one of the locals put it… “better than a gym session and therapy combined” 😂🌿💪

Days like this are important. If we want to continue conversations around shared beach spaces moving forward, we also need to show responsibility, care for the environment and respect for the spaces we already have.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and got sandy with us.

We’d love to see even more faces at the next dune planting day on the 6th of June 🌱 Extra hands are always welcome.🙏

Welcome to everyone who’s new here 🐾🐶 We really appreciate the support and the growing interest in what we’re building at Curl Curl.

For those just joining, Curl Curl Dogs is a community-led initiative focused on responsible dog ownership, protecting our environment and working towards better outcomes for how we share our local spaces 🌱🌊

Right now, we’re taking a thoughtful approach. We’re keeping an eye on how things progress with Mona Vale’s trial , while continuing to grow our community, build awareness and engage with Council and local organisations.

A big part of what we’re doing at this stage is education around protecting dunes, respecting wildlife, and being mindful of other beach users.📚 We know that building trust and raising standards within the community is an important first step. ✨

Everything so far has been driven by locals; from clean-ups and dune restoration to community walks, conversations and ongoing engagement.

As we grow, we’d love more people involved. If you have skills, ideas or connections; whether it’s design, working with local businesses, helping organise events or simply getting involved; feel free to send us a message. 🙏🏼

We’ve also set up a small GoFundMe for those who’d like to support the next stage of this; things like signage, a website and community resources. No donation is too small: https://gofund.me/0ae72d734

This has always been a community effort, and we’re excited to keep building it together 🐾🌱
