Wishing a peaceful 端午Duanwu / Tuen Ng / Dragon Boat Festival to our q***r Chinese community.
Duanwu is usually remembered through Dragon boats 龍舟, zongzi 糭子, and QU Yuan 屈原.
But did you know Duanwu might be THE OLDEST living Q***r Festival in the world? Prof SUN Cizhou of China West Normal University in 1944 opined that QU Yuan (339 BC) was not just a patriotic poet, he was also a lover of King Huai of Chu.
This Pride Month, ANTRA is gathering as a q***r Chinese community to reimagine Duanwu together, as a living tradition about belonging, chosen family, resilience and care.
Join us for:
🌈 a live performance inspired by Qu Yuan’s The Fisherman by Star Gayze
✍️ creative writing
🐉 dragon boat art-making
💬 reflection and sharing
🍃 vegetarian zongzi and light food
🫶 time with other q***r Chinese community members
