Happy Moon Festival

🌕🏳️‍🌈 Sydney’s Chinese-speaking LGBTQIA+ crew — Moon Fest is on this Friday!

🚨 VENUE CHANGE — don’t head to the old spot!
📍 Colombian Hotel
117/125 Oxford St, Darlinghurst
🗓 Friday, 25 September
⏰ 6pm–9pm

This year’s theme:

A Home Under the Moon

For plenty of us living away from home, Mid-Autumn doesn’t necessarily mean sitting around the table with our families.

Sometimes family is your partner, your mates, your q***r community, or the chosen family you’ve found along the way. 🌈

Whether you’re gay, le***an, bi, trans, non-binary, q***r, still figuring things out, or simply part of our wider community — you’re welcome.

Come by for mooncakes, a drink, a chat, some new faces and a proper look at the full moon. 🌕

On the night:

🥮 Mooncakes
🎁 Lucky draws
🌈 LGBTQIA+ community activities
🏳️‍🌈 Free PrEP info and engagement with NSW Health
💃 Moon Fest / Chang’e-inspired music and dance performances by Evan & Candice

Coming solo? No dramas.

ANTRA volunteers will be around to help you meet people if you’d like a hand getting started.

Introvert-friendly too — no forced networking or painfully awkward games 😂

University of Sydney Research Recruitment | Native Mandarin Speakers

The Forensic Psychology Lab at the School of Psychology, University of Sydney, is currently recruiting participants for a study examining virtual reality (VR), memory for criminal events, and interviewing methods.

The study aims to understand how people remember and report criminal events experienced in virtual reality, and to further explore potential cultural differences in memory and reporting. The research team is currently recruiting female and non-binary participants who are native Mandarin speakers and fluent in English.

What does the study involve?
Participants will experience a simulated scenario in a virtual reality (VR) environment and will subsequently take part in an interview and psychological assessments concerning what they saw, heard, and remembered. The study consists of two sessions approximately one week apart, with a total duration of up to approximately 1.5 hours. Participants who complete both sessions will receive an AUD $20 voucher as reimbursement for their participation.

Important content warning:
The VR scenario in this study involves sexual misconduct and implied sexual assault. Participants will be asked to attend to the VR scenario as though they were experiencing the event themselves. The content may therefore cause discomfort or psychological distress. If you believe that this type of content may cause you significant discomfort or distress, please carefully consider whether participation is appropriate for you.

The study has specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Before registering, please carefully review the Eligibility Criteria and the complete study information provided on the University of Sydney’s official research webpage.

This study has received ethics approval (HREC Approval Number: 2023/HE000098).
