NUAA NSW NUAA is a not-for-profit NSW-based organisation advocating for people who use drugs.

The NSW Users and AIDS Association (NUAA) is a not-for-profit NSW-based organisation advocating for people who use drugs, particularly those who inject drugs. The peak drug user organisation in NSW, NUAA was formed in 1989 in the face of a growing HIV epidemic. A group of drug users, their friends, families and supporters established NUAA as an independent, user-driven community-based organisation. Funded primarily by the NSW Health Department, NUAA provides education, practical support, information and advocacy to users of illicit drugs, their friends, and allies. NUAA has often led the way in developing innovative approaches to peer education and community development, and has contributed to Australia having one of the lowest HIV rates amongst injecting drug users in the world.

The renewed NSW Drug Checking's first event was a smashing success! 🎉

More than 250 samples were tested at Knockout over the weekend. That’s the most the NSW service has ever tested in a single day.

Huge congrats to our drug checking peers, our partners at NSW Health and all the people behind the scenes who made this happen.

📢 Drug checking at NSW music festivals is here to stay. After an independent evaluation found the trial reduced drug-related harm, the NSW Government has committed to drug checking at up to 15 festivals a year, in partnership with peers at NUAA.

💜 At the same time, naloxone access is widening, with first aid trained workers now able to use it on the job.

NSW drug checking and the DanceWize NSW team will be at Knockout Outdoors this Saturday 🎶

Drug checking can be found in the medical precinct next to the DanceWize NSW care space and the first aid team. The service is open between 2PM - 9PM, come along early to avoid the queue.

If you use the service you’ll need to supply a sample about the size of a matchstick head for testing. Samples cannot be returned (sorry!) but we promise the chemists will use the smallest amount they can.

Drug checking can't tell you if a substance is safe but it can tell you what's in your gear so you can make an informed decision. If you have questions, the NUAA drug checking peers are happy to help!

Drug checking can be found next to medical one, right next to the DanceWize NSW care space and the first aid team. DanceWize will be providing peer-based harm reduction services, keep an eye out for our rovers in purple vests.

The drug checking service is open between 2PM - 9PM, come along early to avoid the queue.⁠

Have you heard of 'Point of Care Testing'? What about a 'Dried Blood Spot' test? 🩸

These are the two types of Hepatitis C testing NUAA uses. Hep C can only be detected through a blood test but there are a couple ways to do it.
