Rescuing in NSW is tough. Whether you’re trapping in Western Sydney or fostering in the Inner West, the cats arriving are often unwell, injured, or heavily pregnant, and the vet bills are relentless.

If you’re self-funded or relying on donations, the financial pressure is real. This is where the spectrum of care comes in.

What is it? It simply means there is more than one right way to treat a cat. It’s an open and honest conversation with your vet about finding a practical solutions based on the cat’s needs, their prognosis, and your available resources.

What it ISN’T:
* It is not substandard care.
* It is not cutting corners on welfare.

What it IS:
* Choosing what is essential Vs what is ideal.
* Prioritising welfare: Focusing on relieving pain and improving quality of life.

Most Sydney vets understand the constraints we work under. By focusing on a spectrum of care, we can give every cat their best realistic chance at a healthy life without the rescue going under.*

URGENT CALL FOR FOSTER CARERS

Catcare Alliance is helping Sydney Street Cats with a really heartbreaking rescue.

At last count there are 32 cats that need somewhere safe to go. They were left behind in a unit after their owner was evicted from the property in inner Sydney.

Right now the biggest need is foster carers.

The cats range from tiny kittens through to adults. They’ve all lived indoors their whole lives, so they’re looking for safe indoor foster homes while everything gets sorted out. Most are very friendly and affectionate. A few are understandably a bit shy and scared after everything that’s happened.

If you think you could offer one of them a safe place, message our page and we can go through any questions you have. 🙏🏻

Some have mild cat flu symptoms or conjunctivitis. Every cat will be checked by a vet and most will be desexed before going into foster care.

We’re spreading the message widely as Sydney carers are already overwhelmed. Even if you can’t help this time, sharing this post could help it reach someone who can. 🙌🏻

💔 Can you give Ellie a safe place to heal? (Sydney Foster Needed) 💔

We’re sharing this on behalf of Home Safe Rescue because we’re hoping someone in our community can help this beautiful girl.

Ellie was abandoned by her family more than three years ago when they moved away. Since then, she’s been surviving on the streets, relying on kind neighbours for food.

Now, after years of simply getting by, it’s caught up with her.

She’s lost a lot of weight, is drooling, and is in obvious pain whenever she tries to eat. Thankfully, Home Safe Rescue has stepped in and booked Ellie in for the dental surgery she desperately needs.

Once her surgery is over, all she’ll need is something she’s gone without for far too long - a quiet, safe home where she can recover, feel secure, and learn what it’s like to be loved again.

Could that home be yours?

If you live in Sydney and have a spare room or quiet space, please consider fostering Ellie while she recovers. Home Safe Rescue will provide her food, litter, bedding and everything she needs. All you need to provide is a safe place and a little kindness.

Boo needs your support. Please help if you can.

Boo wandered over to a colony feeder, searching for food.

It is a mystery how he sustained the injury to his nose and mouth, which left his nasal cavity exposed.

The team at Fairfield Road Veterinary Hospital managed to reattach this fragment of flapping skin, nose, and mouth.

Boo will also need a dental in a couple weeks.

But now, the healing begins…
