GBUN is deeply alarmed and outraged by the custodial death of Mirza Ishtiaq Ahmed Pranto.

A young man entered state custody alive and was returned to his family dead. His family deserves truth. They deserve justice. They deserve accountability.

We demand an independent and internationally credible investigation, full transparency regarding the circumstances of his detention and death, and accountability for any abuse, negligence, or misconduct that may have contributed to this tragedy.

No custodial death should ever go unanswered. No authority is above the law. The protection of life, human dignity, and due process must remain the foundation of any democratic society.

Justice for Mirza Ishtiaq Ahmed Pranto. Truth for his family. Accountability for those responsible.
