Today, RSL NSW CEO Mick Frewen met with the NSW Premier Chris Minns for the first time since stepping into the role, alongside RSL NSW President Vince Williams and Chair Louise Sullivan.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss RSL NSW’s ongoing work supporting veterans and their families, and the important role our network plays in communities across NSW.

RSL NSW looks forward to continuing to work with the NSW Government to strengthen support and outcomes for the veteran community.

Through close partnerships with Figtree Sports Club, Wollongong Golf Club and other local sporting organisations, our sub-Branch runs a Sport & Recreation Program offering free and subsidised activities to veterans.

The program is open to veterans across all eight Illawarra RSL sub-Branches, Coledale, Austinmer-Thirroul, Woonona-Bulli, Corrimal, City of Wollongong, Warilla, Dapto-Port Kembla and Albion Park.

The program is about staying active, staying connected and being part of a community that looks out for you.

The evidence is in. Here's what Australia's landmark independent study into Middle East veterans found.

Many veterans continue to experience complex mental health conditions, chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, moral injury and challenges transitioning to civilian life. Families and carers also carry a significant, often unseen burden.

Today, RSL Australia has released the MEAO Veteran and Families Project Scoping Study – a landmark piece of research that establishes the strongest evidence base to date on the health and wellbeing of veterans who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, and their families.

The research was independently funded by the RSL, and was conducted by Gallipoli Medical Research, Griffith University, and Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research.

This study will help shape future policy, research and veteran-centred care, ensuring support is guided by evidence and the lived experiences of those who served.
