KOURITES IN AUSTRALIA!!!

Dear Members and Friends of Crete, the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand is proud to announce the visit to Australia in November this year, of the “Kourites” Cultural Heritage Centre.

5 Members of the Kourites, headed by their Director and leader, Mr Giorgos Pattakos, will be visiting 6 cities across Australia, bringing with them decades of experience and knowledge.

They will conduct dance workshops and seminars where they will share and pass on our Cretan traditions and history to all our members, with a special focus on our youth.

This visit coincides with the 160th Anniversary of the Holocaust of Arkadi, which will be commemorated across Oceania by our Cretan Community.

We thank the Kourites for accepting our invitation and look forward to a wonderful experience over the course of the month.

We also acknowledge and thank our Member Organisations for their cooperation in organising this special visit.

🎨 CRETAN YOUTH FEDERATION ART COMPETITION 2026 🇬🇷

To commemorate 160 years of Arkadi, we’re inviting young artists up to 25 years old to create an original artwork inspired by Arkadi, Crete and our Cretan heritage.

The Arkadi Monastery holds a special place in Cretan history, symbolising courage, sacrifice and the struggle for freedom. This competition aims to help younger generations learn about its significance, reflect on what Arkadi represents, and keep its story alive through art.

🏆 1st — $300
🥈 2nd — $200
🥉 3rd — $100

📅 Entries close 30 November 2026

For submission details, contact your local Cretan club president or youth representative.
