Stem cells for heart failure interview study.
Study Name: Understanding stakeholder needs, attitudes and perceptions to inform clinical trials for pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocyte therapy.
Study P*s: Prof James Chong overall PI for stem cell research program (Westmead Institute/USyd), additional P*s for this interview study are Prof Wendy Lipworth (Macquarie Uni) and Prof Ian Kerridge (USyd)
Investigators from St Vincent's: Prof Hayward, Prof Macdonald, A/Prof Muthiah, Dr Zoe Clayton - all collaborate with Prof Chong and are CIs or AIs on his stem cell MRFF grants
What does the study involve: A 60 minute interview with a member of the study team. Can be phone, Zoom, or face-to-face. Participants will be asked about their thoughts on topics including: when is a new treatment really ready for people to try, what are your hopes and concerns for a stem cell therapy, what factors would make a clinical trial safe and worthwhile to you? Participants will receive a $50 voucher for their time.
We’re recruiting across Australia through cardiology networks, heart failure clinics, consumer and advocacy groups, and outreach networks. We would love if AHLTA could help us share this study with your members.
