Sharing Love, Cards & Gifts with Our Lovely Elders at Bupa

Another beautiful visit filled with smiles, kindness, heartfelt conversations, cards and little gifts for our lovely elderly residents at Bupa.

As always, we are welcomed with such warmth and kindness. The beautiful relationship we have built with the residents and staff makes every visit feel like coming home.

A special thank you to our wonderful volunteers who give their time, energy and hearts to make these moments possible. Your kindness reminds us that sometimes the smallest gesture — a card, a gift, a conversation or simply spending time together — can make the biggest difference.

We hope our visits inspire others to look around their own communities and connect with an elderly person nearby. A little time, a friendly smile and a caring conversation can bring so much joy.

Together, we can make the world a more special place — one kind gesture, one smile and one beautiful connection at a time.

Last year, three of our young volunteers received recognition through the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.

We are incredibly grateful to the elderly communities who have supported our children along the way — including our friends at Bupa, Infinite Care, Opal Care and SummitCare Baulkham Hills.

For many of our children, these nursing homes have become much more than places they visit. They have become places where friendships have grown, memories have been made and generations have connected.

We are especially grateful to the elderly residents who, on behalf of Bupa, chose to recognise our young volunteers. That recognition means so much because it comes from people who have seen their kindness, commitment and consistency firsthand.

But there is something important we want to share.

Our children do not volunteer to receive awards.

They don't volunteer because they expect recognition, certificates or applause. Much of what they do is never published. We share only some moments, primarily through our webpage, because their focus has always been on serving their community rather than being seen doing it.

And perhaps that is what makes these moments even more special.

When our children receive recognition, they don't simply take it home and keep it for themselves.

They take it back to their friends at the nursing homes.

They share it.
They celebrate it together.
They say thank you.

Because they understand that they didn't walk this journey alone.

The elderly people who welcomed them, encouraged them, remembered them, listened to them and supported them have been part of their journey too.

So this recognition belongs to more than our three young volunteers.

It belongs to every elderly friend who has opened their heart to our children.

Thank you for believing in them, supporting them and giving them a place where kindness can travel both ways — from young hearts to older generations, and back again.

Awards may recognise a moment.

But friendship, kindness and service are built over years.

And that is what we hope our children carry with them — not the award, but the reason behind it.

Behind every box packed, every item sorted and every delivery made, there is a story.

A story of young hands learning to care.
Young minds learning to give.
And young hearts learning that they can make a difference.

These photos were taken some time ago and, like so many moments from our journey, they were never published. But they are worth sharing because they remind us that what looks like a simple project from the outside can involve hours or even days of work behind the scenes.

Sorting.
Packing.
Organising.
Preparing.
And doing it all because someone else may need it.

These two young volunteers have been part of our work since they were very young. They have grown up understanding that helping others isn't something you do only when it is convenient, or on one special day of the year.

Kindness is a practice.

It is choosing to care when nobody is watching.
It is giving your time when you could be doing something else.
It is learning to think beyond yourself.
And it is turning what you believe into what you actually do.

Every little step taken in childhood matters.

The hands that pack a box today may become the hands that serve a community tomorrow.
The child who learns to give their time today may become the adult who gives their life to making the world better tomorrow.

We often think we have to do something big to make a difference.

We don't.

You don't need money.
You don't need a title.
You don't need to wait until you are older.

You simply need to start.

Give your time.
Help someone.
Share what you have.
Teach a child kindness.
And practise the values you want to see in the world.

Because kindness isn't just something we teach children.

It is something we help them become.

And perhaps that is one of the greatest things we can give the next generation — not just the opportunity to help others, but the opportunity to grow into people who naturally choose to care.

Every small step counts.
Every act matters.
Every young heart can make a difference.

Together, we can make the world a special place.

Every Kindness Matters – Celebrating Our Doctors

A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible doctors who dedicate their lives to caring for others with compassion, skill, and unwavering commitment.

This special moment, with our wonderful Little Helpers presenting handmade thank-you cards, is a reminder that even the simplest gestures of appreciation can have a lasting impact. A smile, a kind word, or a heartfelt card can brighten someone's day and remind them that their dedication is valued.

Every day, doctors make difficult decisions, provide comfort during life's most challenging moments, and work tirelessly to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities. Moments like this, we celebrate not only their expertise but also their kindness, humanity, and resilience.

The Greatest Gift We Can Give Is Belonging

Behind every special community event are the incredible volunteers who quietly make it all happen.

These photos capture just a small part of the preparation—our amazing volunteers packing, wrapping, organising gifts and setting everything up to ensure every child enjoys a memorable day. Their generosity, time and dedication are the heart of this annual event.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful students at AIA School, who carefully hand-painted more than 100 beautiful gift bags. Every bag was created with thoughtfulness and care, making each gift even more meaningful. Thank you to all teachers who worked hard to make it happen.

We are also incredibly grateful to the leadership team, teachers and staff at The Ponds School for your ongoing partnership and support. Together, we continue to create opportunities where every child feels welcomed, included and celebrated.

We would also like to extend our thanks to all those who supported this project.

This is what community is all about—people coming together behind the scenes to bring joy to others. Every gift packed, every bag painted, and every helping hand contributes to something much bigger: creating a sense of belonging.

Kindness Makes a Difference

Kindness doesn't always have to be grand to make a lasting impact. Sometimes, it's a handwritten card, a few chocolates, or simply taking the time to say, "Thank you."

Each year, one of our favourite traditions is sharing kindness with the incredible nursing staff and healthcare teams across our local hospitals. This Easter, we distributed Easter cards and chocolates as a small gesture of appreciation for the compassion, dedication, and care they provide every single day.

Healthcare professionals are there for people during some of life's most challenging moments. Their kindness, patience, and commitment often go unseen, but they make an immeasurable difference to patients and families alike.

Our organisation believes that kindness should be shared in many ways throughout the year. Whether it's supporting schools, helping families in need, connecting generations, or recognising our healthcare workers, every act of appreciation strengthens our community.

A Small Thank You for Those Who Make a Big Difference

Behind every Breakfast Club, every kindness project, and every smile shared in our community are the incredible teachers and supportive parents who generously give their time, encouragement, and care.

Our lovely nurses never stop amazing us.

This Nurses Day, our Little Helpers shared heartfelt video messages, treats, and handmade cards with the incredible nurses at the hospital. In return, the nurses sent us these beautiful photos to express their appreciation for ElsWely friends, school students, volunteers, and everyone involved in creating such meaningful moments of kindness and care.

These gestures remind us of the true beauty of appreciation — not only in giving thanks, but also in taking the time to acknowledge kindness in return. It takes a special heart to care for others every single day, and our nurses continue to inspire us with their compassion, strength, and dedication.
