Pinched from another rescues page ...
What Rescuers Don’t Normally Tell You 😭
With the sheer volume of intakes at the moment, we are all struggling. Every rescue is drowning in requests. There are more animals needing help than there are fosters, funds, or hours in the day. 😬🐈⬛
We show you the cute photos. The happy adoptions. The moments that make it all feel worthwhile.
But here’s what we don’t usually talk about:
The sheer volume of washing. Towels, blankets, cages—always something soaked, dirty, or needing sanitising. 🫧🧽
The constant battle against disease. Ringworm, cat flu, parasites. A never-ending cycle. 💉
The late nights bottle feeding, syringe feeding, soothing the sick. 🍼
The early mornings medicating, cleaning, prepping for vet runs. 🏥
The full-time job you do to fund the full-time job that is rescue—and somehow you're still broke. 😩
The emotional burnout that hits when the adrenaline wears off. 🔥
The death. The babies that don’t make it. The ones you couldn’t save. The heartbreak that comes again and again. You learn to compartmentalise until you can't. ⚰️
The humans who ghost, lie, dump, hoard, demand, and then complain when it’s not convenient for them. We've met a few of them lately..... 🤬
This isn’t a pity post. It’s the truth.
We do it because they deserve better.
But rescue isn’t all cuddles and hero moments. It’s messy. It’s exhausting. And right now—it’s critical.
If you support a rescue, really support them.
Adopt. Donate. Share. Volunteer. Be patient. Be kind.
Because right now, we’re holding it all together with caffeine, compassion, and a bit of tape.
