🌱❄️ Winter is on its way, and the veggies at Sherwin Park Community Garden are loving the cooler weather. With overcast skies and a fresh chill in the air, our winter crops are growing beautifully and beginning to fill the garden beds.

Today’s garden gathering had an international flavour, with members enjoying a selection of delicious snacks brought back from Japan following a recent trip. It was a wonderful opportunity to share stories, enjoy good food, and connect with fellow gardeners.

🌸💐 What a beautiful morning at Sherwin Park Community Garden! 💐🌸

Today we enjoyed a wonderful bouquet-making workshop organised and hosted by the amazing Salam, Jenny and Joy. 🌿✨

With the sunshine warming a perfect autumn morning, we had a fantastic turnout, created beautiful bouquets, shared lots of laughter, and met many lovely new friends along the way. 💛

A special thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so welcoming and joyful.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmothers, carers and special women in our community. 🌷💕

A special day in the garden today as we celebrated Maria’s 91st birthday with delicious chocolate cake and wonderful company. What a joy to share this milestone together.

The light rain during the week, along with the cooler autumn weather, is giving our veggie beds a welcome boost, and the autumn crops are thriving. We also enjoyed a very exciting milestone, harvesting and tasting the very first dragon fruit grown in the garden, a sweet reward for patience and care.

Days like these remind us the garden is not just about growing food, it is about growing community, friendship and sharing special moments together. Happy 91st birthday Maria! 🌿🎂

Two years of growing, sharing, and connecting 🌱

Today we celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Sherwin Park Community Garden with a relaxed morning tea and plenty of delicious homemade treats. A big thank you to everyone who brought a plate and helped make it such a special morning.

With all our autumn veggies now planted, we’re looking forward to watching the garden flourish over the coming weeks. It’s a great reminder of how much we’ve achieved together in just two years.

Here’s to many more seasons of growing 🌿

Great turnout at the Easter Egg Hunt today in the garden 🐣🍫

It was wonderful to see so many families and community members come together, enjoying the sunshine, the garden, and of course the chocolate treats! Events like this are a great reminder of what our garden is all about, bringing people together and creating shared moments.

The garden has been buzzing with activity over the past few weeks as we transition into the cooler seasons.

We’ve been busy clearing out the last of our spring and summer crops, refreshing the beds with nutrient-rich compost, and planting a new round of autumn and winter seedlings. It’s always an exciting time to see the garden reset and ready for the next season of growth.

Amidst all the hard work, we also took a moment to celebrate Jacquie’s birthday with cake, and Jenny created some beautiful floral bouquets using flowers grown right here in the garden. A lovely reminder of what our shared space can produce, not just food, but joy and connection. 🌿🎂💐

🌿 A Wonderful Morning at Sherwin Park Community Garden 🌿

After a busy morning in the garden, our volunteers were rewarded with a fantastic harvest from the beds. It’s always a great feeling to see the results of everyone’s hard work, with fresh produce ready to be shared and enjoyed.

To finish off the morning, the group headed to our local Yum Cha restaurant for lunch to celebrate International Women’s Day. It was a lovely way to recognise the amazing women in our garden community who contribute so much time, care and energy to helping the garden thrive.

Days like these remind us that community gardens are not only about growing food, they’re also about growing friendships and celebrating the people who make these spaces so special. 🌱💚
