Every year, our sanctuary in Germany gives 20–25 injured or orphaned fox cubs a second chance at life. 🦊🌲

Each little fox arrives at TIERART Wild Animal Sanctuary (TIERART Wildtierstation) with a different story. Since 2012, over 200 foxes have been successfully rehabilitated and released back into safe forest habitats where foxes are native and hunting is not permitted. ❌

From tiny, milk-dependent cubs to wild, independent foxes, their journey is incredible to witness. In their early weeks, they’re cared for in small enclosures where they can receive the attention and medical support they need. As they grow, they move into larger outdoor spaces where they learn to rely less on humans, rediscover their natural instincts, and become wary again, just as they should be in the wild. 🌿

By around 5 - 6 months old, they’re ready. Released in small groups into carefully chosen, quiet areas far from roads and people, they begin their new lives in nature. While we can’t control where they roam, we give them the very best possible start. 🐾

And every time we open those enclosure doors, it’s a truly special moment, watching them run free after months of care is something we’ll never take for granted. 💕

When Zaher fled South , he refused to leave his dogs behind. 🐾

Originally from Marjeoun Blat, Zaher worked in farming before the conflict forced him to leave his home and seek safety in Beirut. Today, he is displaced and staying near the Beirut International Exhibition & Leisure Center (Biel), together with his dogs Spero, Nemra, and Riagn. ❤️

His extended family found shelter in a crowded house, but there was no space for the dogs. Faced with an impossible choice, Zaher decided to live in a tent so he could stay with them.

For Zaher, these dogs are his family. 💔

Stories like this are why Animals Lebanon continues to provide emergency support for displaced people and their animals: helping families stay together, distributing food and supplies, and making sure animals are not left behind during this crisis.

Please help us continue supporting Animals Lebanon and the life-saving work they do for animals and the people who love them.

🐶 Lisa lost her leg after a car crash, but nothing fazes this gentle dog. 💖

Getting hit by a car is one of the greatest dangers faced by stray dogs. While surviving such an accident is traumatic enough, Lisa’s story is even more heartbreaking. She was struck by a vehicle and left without medical attention for weeks. She must have endured unimaginable pain during that time.

By the time she came into our care, her injuries were severe. What began as a serious fracture had progressed into a traumatic partial amputation and a dangerous infection. Battered and suffering, Lisa was still holding on.

Our partner veterinarian, Doctor Albatrit Halili of Ambulanca Veterinare Albatriti, acted immediately. Controlling the infection became the first priority, followed by the difficult but necessary decision to perform a full limb amputation. ❌

What touched her caregivers most was that despite everything she had endured, Lisa remained gentle, sociable, and trusting. ❤️

Today, Lisa is in good health and has found a temporary caregiver who is giving her the time and support she needs to fully adapt to her new life with the possibility of a permanent, loving home on the horizon. 🏡

Two Lives Changed Thanks to You! 💕

Bears Gjina and Pashuk are two of the bears featured in our online campaign raising awareness of how bears suffer in captivity.

For years, Pashuk was kept in a dark cage next to a restaurant in Albania. The iron chain around his neck was so tight that his flesh had grown around it. He must have been in incredible pain. Because of you, our team could cut it off, and rescue him.

Gjina too, was kept next to an Albanian restaurant in a cramped cage. She had no protection from wind, rain or sun. People would feed her up to 20 beers a day.

At our BEAR SANCTUARY Prishtina, thanks to you, they’re a world away from this cruelty.

Here, they’re thriving. Pashuk enjoys every day to the fullest, while Gjina is the most sensitive bear at the sanctuary.

They both love food, and especially enjoy fruit and chestnuts.
It’s support like yours that gave them this second chance. Find out how by watching our online campaign!

Today, thanks to you, Gjina and Pashuk will never know cruelty again.

Tragic news: 4,000 lives lost at sea 🐑🐐💔

We are devastated by reports that approximately 4,000 sheep and goats have died after a livestock vessel was attacked, caught fire, and sank off the coast of Oman. 🚢

On 13 May, the cargo ship carrying animals from Somaliland to the UAE was struck in an incident whose cause remains unclear. The attack ignited a fire that quickly spread across the vessel.

While all 14 crew members were rescued, all the animals onboard had no way to escape. Confined at sea, they all perished as the ship burned and sank beneath them.

We cannot look away from the immense suffering these animals endured in their final moments. Frightened, trapped, and helpless, their lives ended in one of the most horrific ways imaginable.

This tragedy is another stark reminder of the serious risks of transporting live animals by sea. Mechanical failures, fires, extreme weather, sinkings, and journeys through unstable or conflict-affected regions can quickly become deadly. For animals locked onboard, there is often no meaningful chance of rescue.

We continue to call for an end to the live export of animals by sea. No animal should be sent on long, dangerous journeys, especially not into regions affected by conflict.

Their suffering must not be forgotten. ✊🐾

Glam-gorgeous king Romeo, second year out of the circus!👑✨

Two years ago, Romeo finally left his sad circus life for the life he always deserved at our sanctuary.

Born in France in 2019, Romeo’s early years were marked by hardship. He was forced to perform in a circus, lived in a tiny 2x5m cage inside a truck, and later being neglected when the circus went bankrupt. 💔

Today, Romeo is living the glam life. Grass beneath his paws, room to roam, sunshine and nature's breeze on his mane, and the safety he always deserved.

Here's to two years of care, healing, and pure king energy at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary. Long may he reign, this glorious king. ✨🐾

Not all white fur is the same 🧠

At first glance, tigress Charlota 🐯 and mink Liesel 🦦 at our TIERART Wild Animal Sanctuary (TIERART Wildtierstation) might look alike, but the reason behind their white colouring couldn’t be more different.

🐯 Charlota’s pale coat comes from leucism, a rare recessive gene mutation that reduces pigmentation. Her blue eyes, pink nose and paw pads are typical signs. And even with her light fur, her iconic stripes remain. ⚪️

Because this recessive gene must come from both parents, white tigers in captivity are often the result of inbreeding, which can lead to lifelong health issues like impaired vision, deformities, and heart or kidney disease. 💔

🦦 Liesel, on the other hand, shows signs of albinism, a genetic condition that prevents the production of melanin entirely. That’s why she has a fully white coat and red eyes. 👁️ The red colour appears because her iris lacks pigment, allowing the blood vessels to show through.

Two animals. Two very different genetic stories.
Both safe at TIERART now. 💛

Happy news! Sweet Teddy takes her first brave steps on her lush, nature-filled home. 🐻💚

The 32-year-old bear was born at Tierpark Westerhausen in Germany, where she spent her entire life in an enclosure that only met the minimum legal standards and was far from a species-appropriate home. Years of advocacy by our EARS partner, STIFTUNG für BÄREN finally succeeded in convincing the new management team to release Teddy to our BEAR SANCTUARY Mueritz (BÄRENWALD Müritz). ✨

Since arriving at our sanctuary, Teddy has been given all the time she needs, adjusted to her pace and behaviour. As Westerhausen was the only home she had ever known, settling into a completely new environment takes time especially at her age. 🌿

Teddy spent her first weeks inside the bear house, slowly getting to know her new caretaker team day by day. And the team has already discovered Teddy’s favourite enrichment so far: empty horse feed bags! 🐴

Last week, she reached another important milestone: Teddy got access to her outdoor enclosure. A natural area with trees, grass, bushes, ponds and even fellow bear neighbours, Flora and Michal. 🌳💦

Bravely, Teddy took her very first walks outside, encouraged by the calm and reassuring voice of our animal caretaker Charlie.💚

We are very happy with Teddy’s progress, but it will still take a lot of time and patience for her to fully settle in. Right now, she still spends much of her time inside the bear house, which has become her safe place. Her trust in our animal caretakers is growing every day, and she is receiving all the support she needs while adapting to her new home. 🏡

We look forward to sharing more updates with you, and showing you more of Teddy soon. 🐾
