Make Leadership Possible 👇

Leadership doesn't always begin with a title. Sometimes, it starts with leading a game, sharing an idea or encouraging a friend to give something new a try.

Through Guiding, girls discover the confidence to step forward and the skills to lead with kindness, courage and purpose.

Your tax-deductible donation helps provide trained volunteers, program resources and accessible activities so more girls can discover their voice, take the lead and grow into capable, confident leaders.

Don't Throw Away Old DVDs! Turn Them into Sparkling Dragonflies That Dance in the Sun

🛒 Materials Needed:

• Old DVDs or CDs
• scissors
• hot glue
• wooden clothespins
• googly eyes
• fishing line

👩‍🔧 Directions:

1️⃣ Cut the Wings: Carefully cut four oval wing shapes from old DVDs or CDs.
Use sturdy scissors and trim slowly, as the discs may crack if cut too quickly.

2️⃣ Make the Body: Glue the four wings onto a wooden clothespin, arranging two wings on each side.
Position them like dragonfly wings and let the hot glue set firmly.

3️⃣ Add the Eyes: Attach googly eyes near the top of the clothespin.
This gives your dragonfly a cute, playful look.

4️⃣ Add the Hanger: Tie a piece of fishing line around the clothespin body.
Make sure it is secure so the dragonfly can hang and move gently in the breeze.

5️⃣ Hang in the Sunlight: Hang your sparkling dragonfly outdoors where sunlight can hit the shiny wings.
The recycled discs will reflect rainbow colors and create a beautiful garden display.

🎯 Project Summary:

⏰ Estimated Time: 20–30 minutes
📦 Difficulty: Beginner
🎨 Project Type: Recycled Garden Art / Eco-Friendly Craft / Outdoor Decor

Winter is almost here - can you help Carevan Blacktown collect essential items such as new blankets, jackets, Beenies, scarves, gloves or socks for our local community members doing it tough! Just a small donation can make a huge difference.

Help us spread a little seasonal winter warmth! 💙 If you'd like to donate a blanket or contribute to our Winter Warmth Blanket Appeal ~ please get in touch via EMAIL at [email protected]❄️☃️❄️we'd love to hear from you

There's many ways to support people in need of this care as the cold (& wet ☔️) settles in for the season. You could organise a blanket drive at work or school, knit a blanket (and a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful people who do this for us all year round 💙) donate funds and we can purchase blankets on your behalf, or simply donate a blanket or a pair of gloves and a scarf ~ These will go directly to people in need, throughout winter, on Tuesday evenings at Lalor Park

Every contribution helps bring warmth and comfort, while sending a powerful message of support, care and kindness to those who need it most 💙

Ordinary women. Extraordinary impact.

Girl Guides volunteers come from all walks of life. They’re students, parents, professionals, retirees, mentors, and community members. They’re women who choose to give their time to help girls and young women thrive.

That’s the extraordinary thing about volunteering: ordinary people become extraordinary by making a difference.

As we close out National Volunteer Week, we want to say one final thank you to every volunteer who makes Guiding possible. Your impact reaches further than you know, and the difference you make in the lives of girls and young women is truly lasting.
