The final day of National Reconciliation Week every year is one of the most significant in Australia.

Mabo Day, celebrated annually on 3 June, commemorates Mer Island man Eddie Koiki Mabo and his successful advocacy to overturn the legal fiction of terra nullius, or ‘land belonging to no-one’.

Following the High Court’s Mabo decision, Australia’s Federal Parliament passed the Native Title Act 1993 which established a legal framework for native title claims throughout Australia by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

and Mabo Day are a reminder to be ‘All In’ to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to commit ourselves to reconciliation and the fight for First Nations justice in Australia.

As part of marking 25 years of Reconciliation Australia, we asked five of our favourite writers – Anita Heiss, Corey Tutt, Jackie Huggins, Kirli Saunders and Shane Howard – for their most iconic reconciliation reads.

The results are diverse, a little surprising and it turns out some of the authors are each other’s favourites too!

‘Beds Are Burning’ is Midnight Oil's timeless call to action to be ‘All In’ for justice and reconciliation, and for all Australians to know our history.

More than 700 choirs across the country have come together in song to be part of National Reconciliation Week 2026, including Naarm Voices.

Naarm Voices, organised by Reconciliation Victoria and Darebin Solidarity with First Peoples, brought together people of all singing abilities to rehearse and record their rendition at the Aborigines Advancement League in Thornbury, Victoria.

Many people among Australia’s migrant communities have a thirst for understanding the full history of the nation they now call home.

Conversations and actions aimed at quenching that thirst are critical at a time when settlement and multiculturalism are at the forefront of national conversations.

To achieve this and better inform Australia’s multilingual communities, Reconciliation Australia produced resources for National Reconciliation Week in 13 languages commonly spoken in Australian homes.

🗣️Thank you to SBS Australia for producing the Punjabi re-narration of the National Reconciliation Week message (and into 12 more languages).

Reconciliation Australia's latest survey measuring the progress of reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians, the Australian Reconciliation Barometer (ARB), shows that Australians from multicultural backgrounds are strongly in support of the key principles of reconciliation.

We are committed to ensuring that culturally and linguistically diverse communities can understand more about Australia’s reconciliation movement and are better informed of our shared history.
