🏆🐾 WHAT A WEEKEND FOR OUR CORGIS! 🐾🏆

The Welsh Corgi Club of NSW held its October SprintDog™ Trials this weekend, and our Corgis certainly gave us plenty to celebrate!

The biggest news of the weekend came from Michelle Young and her two Pembroke Welsh Corgis, with not one but TWO SprintDog™ Champion titles! 🎉

💙 Kenzie
CH. FERGWYN U HAD ME AT HELLO SPRD.M (NBT)

On Saturday, Kenzie made history by becoming the first Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Australia to achieve the SprintDog™ Champion title! 🏆

Then on Sunday, kennel mate Ziggi joined her:

💙 Ziggi
A2O CH. GRAND. CH. ANDVOL ZIGGI STURDUST SPRD.M (IMP RUS)

Ziggi became the second Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Australia to achieve the SprintDog™ Champion title — giving Michelle the extraordinary achievement of putting SprintDog™ Champion titles on two Pembrokes in one weekend!

And we suspect Russian-bred Ziggi may well be the first Pembroke from his country of origin to achieve a SprintDog™ Champion title too. 🇦🇺🐾

But they weren’t the only Corgis adding letters to their names!

💙 Victoria Lee celebrated two new titles with grandfather and granddaughter:

🐾 Freddie
CH. DAWCO THE PROHIBITION AT AZIAH (AI) SPRD.X
Co-owned with Mrs Liana Bettison, Freddie achieved his SPRD.X – SprintDog™ Excellent title.

🐾 Kára
VELCALLE SONG OF THE VALKYRIE AT AZIAH (AI) N.SPRD
Kára achieved her N.SPRD title.

Congratulations Victoria, Liana, Freddie and Kára! 🎉

And there was another big milestone for Amy Keenan and Bobsie!

🐾 Bobsie – Associate Register Pembroke
PROBABLECORG SPRD.M

Bobsie achieved her SPRD.M – SprintDog™ Masters title over the weekend! 🏆🎉 Dogs NSW approval pending.

Congratulations Amy and Bobsie!

More of our Club Corgis were out there doing what Corgis do so well — giving it everything they’ve got, having a fabulous time and adding more SprintDog™ points towards their next titles.

🐾 Amy Keenan’s Pembroke, Bertie
CH. VELCALLE WH**KY IN THE JAR SPRD.A (pending Dogs NSW)

🐾 Pamela Hunt’s Pembroke, Walton
ANWYL MOONSHINE MAGIC (AI) SPRD.A

🐾 Melinda Mills’ Cardigan, Iago
CH. MANDENE BALERION AP IAGO SPRD.M

It was wonderful to see both Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis out on the course and to celebrate everything from points towards the next title through to new titles and Australian breed history.

SprintDog™ might be about running fast, but behind every title are dogs and handlers who keep turning up, training, learning and enjoying their sport together.

💙 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR OFFICIALS

Of course, none of these achievements happen without the people who give their time and expertise to make our trials possible.

Our sincere thanks to our Judges Kath Purkis and Ally Turnbull, and to our Sprint Marshalls Priscilla Hickie, Donna Anthes and Juliet Ward and Lure Driver Belinda Mitchell.

Thank you for your time, experience, encouragement and support throughout the weekend. With some decidedly challenging weather and conditions thrown into the mix, we are incredibly grateful to each of you for helping us give our dogs and competitors two fantastic days of SprintDog™. 🐾💙

And to everyone who competed, helped, supported another handler or cheered on a Corgi as those little legs headed down the track — thank you for being part of the weekend!

Congratulations to all our Corgis and their people on a fantastic two days! 💙

Short legs? Perhaps.
Big achievements? Absolutely! 🐾🏆🐕💨

🏆🐾 TWO BREEDS MAKE SPRINTDOG™ HISTORY! 🐾🏆

At today’s Welsh Corgi Club of NSW SprintDog™ Trial, we were lucky enough to see TWO Australian firsts for their breeds, with two dogs achieving their SprintDog™ Champion titles! 🎉

💙 Pembroke Welsh Corgi Kenzie
CH. FERGWYN U HAD ME AT HELLO SPRD.M (NBT)
Owned and bred by Club and Committee member Michelle Young, Kenzie became the first Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Australia to achieve the SprintDog™ Champion title!

💙 Clumber Spaniel Rosie
CH. AEROFEE BLUE MOON SPRD.M
Owned by our Trial Judge Ally Turnbull, sweet Rosie became the first Clumber Spaniel in Australia to achieve the SprintDog™ Champion title!

What a fantastic achievement for both dogs, their owners and their breeds. Congratulations Michelle, Ally, Kenzie and Rosie on making history for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Clumber Spaniel! 🏆🐕💨

And the titles didn’t stop there!

Despite the rain and flying hordes of insects, more titles were achieved throughout the day — and, incredibly, EVERY DOG THAT RAN QUALIFIED! 🎉

Not a single DQ or DNQ for the entire trial! Is that a first? We certainly hope so! 😄

A huge thank you to everyone who braved the elements — and the bugs! — to compete, officiate, volunteer and help make today such a successful trial.

We’d also like to thank our sponsors Leatherworks4Dogs, Puppyporium and Bow-Wow Bakery for supporting our raffle prize, which will be drawn tomorrow. 🎁

And a reminder for everyone joining us again tomorrow: Daylight Saving begins overnight, so we’ll see you one hour later by the clock in the morning! ⏰☀️

Congratulations to all of today’s competitors and title recipients. Bring on Day Two! 🐾💙
