Gendered violence must be understood in its social context ✨

Around 95% of all victims of violence, experience violence from a male perpetrator.

Women are disproportionately impacted, more likely to experience sexual violence, coercive control, hospitalisation, and homicide by a partner or ex-partner.

Using domestic violence–informed language matters 💜

Language isn’t just about words—it’s about accountability, and keeps the focus on the person choosing to use violence, rather than unintentionally placing responsibility on the victim-survivor 🌸👉

Survivor safety doesn’t sit with one service alone…. it takes a system working together.

When services operate in silos, survivors are left to navigate complex systems on their own, often repeating their story, facing gaps in support, and carrying the risk.

🌸 Real safety looks like:
• Services communicating and sharing information appropriately
• Courts, police, child protection, and support services working in alignment
• Risk being identified and responded to early
• Perpetrators being held accountable… consistently, not selectively
• Survivors being supported, not scrutinised

Multi-system coordination is essential.

Because when systems fail to connect, perpetrators slip through the gaps… and survivors pay the price.
Let’s build systems that work together, not against the people they’re meant to protect.

Sometimes the system meant to protect can feel just as frightening as the harm itself.

For many survivors, the fear isn’t only about the perpetrator…. it’s about what might happen if they speak up.

• Fear of child removal
• Fear of not being believed
• Fear of racism and discrimination
• Fear of homophobia and judgment
• Fear of systems being used against them

These fears are real. They are shaped by lived experiences, not assumptions.

If we want survivors to reach out, we must create systems that feel safe, fair, and culturally responsive.

Listen. Believe. Do better.
