Did you know that in NSW, a low-level drug offence could mean you are entitled to engage with a health pathway, rather than go straight into the court system. This pathway is called the ‘Early Drug Diversion Initiative (EDDI)’.

How it works:

When a police officer issues an EDDI notice, it technically starts as a $400 fine (a Criminal Infringement Notice). However, you have two different paths to resolve it:

Option A: Pay the fine. You pay the $400, and the matter is finished. No court, no criminal record.

Option B: The Health Intervention. You book and attend a free, confidential 60-minute telehealth appointment with a health professional (via St Vincent’s Health Network).

Once you finish that call, the health provider notifies Revenue NSW, and the $400 fine is waived (cancelled) entirely.

If you are found with a small quantity of a substance and are willing to engage with the health-focused pathway, you can calmly ask: "Am I eligible for a fine under the Early Drug Diversion Initiative instead of a court notice?"

Health-based support shouldn't be a privilege; it should be the standard. Share this to help us get these resources to the people who need them most.

As parents, we don't have to agree with drug use to agree on keeping our children safe.

With the NSW Government committing $4.3 million to make drug checking a permanent service at up to 15 music festivals annually, we wanted to break down what this actually means for our kids, and why medical experts and advocates support it.

Jennie Ross-King took the absolute darkest moment of her life, losing her only child, Alex, and channelled it into pure, protective love for a whole generation.

Seven years of pushing through coronial inquest, advocacy, political hesitation, and stigma has finally changed the law in NSW.

Alex was so much more than a single moment, a headline, or a split-second decision. She was a daughter, a whole life, and a deeply loved human being.

When pill testing permanently rolls out in NSW, it won't just be a policy victory, it will be a monument to a mother’s love and devotion. Jennie refused to let her daughter’s story end in heartbreak. Instead, she turned her grief into a shield for everyone else’s children, ensuring Alex’s memory lives on in every life saved.

WE DID IT! 💜 Permanent pill testing is coming to NSW!

Today marks a massive milestone for harm reduction in NSW. The Minns Government has officially committed to roll out drug checking services across up to 15 music festivals annually!

As advocate Jennie Ross-King reminds us, young people take risks, but they deserve to come home safely. This decision replaces stigma with safety, giving young people access to expert health advice when they need it most.

Alice is our Director of Media & Advocacy, but above all, she’s a Mum of 5. Today, she took to the media to share a perspective that speaks for parents everywhere:

"I’m like every other parent; I just want my kids to be safe. I want to see them come home from a party or a music festival. I want to know that they and their friends leave in an Uber or a cab, not an ambulance. Or worse."

Replacing stigma with evidence-based harm reduction saves lives. It’s time we offer our loved one’s compassion, safety, and harm reduction education.
