Wow - has it truly been almost a year since we posted! We've had an amazing year - for proof, have a look at our Instagram feed, which has been regularly updated. And the time has come around again to sell Christmas Trees - so if you're keen, head to scoutschristmastrees.com.au and order one for pickup from Five Dock or Balmain, or for delivery.

We are once again selling Christmas Trees this year - pre-order and pick up either at 1st Balmain Scout Group hall, or at Five Dock hall on the 14th of December - or we can deliver it right to your door. Quiet on socials, actively having adventures - the last couple of terms have been excellent, and we'll post a few photos soon - on Monday we hit the water for a night-time canoeing adventure, and got the opportunity to utilise our brand new PFD's for the first time this summer. A great evening on the water and huge thanks to City of Canada Bay council for the support of our unit, and helping us stay safe whilst out on the water.

It was a busy first term for the unit - hiking, canoeing, climbing, waterskiing, pioneering, wide games, investitures and of course Dragonskin - our two teams ended up in 77th and 137th place, and had an awesome experience in the forest. Last night the unit planned out our second term of activities, so if any other Venturer units are keen to do any joint activities, drop us a note and we'll happily share the program and work out where we can do stuff jointly. On the plan is lots more of the same, plus some cooking adventures, camping, caving and other fun stuff.

The leaders won best base on Dragonskin! Well done to Michael Thompson from Cabarita Mortlake for putting together and leading such an awesome base and to all the crew on the base. A great end to a great weekend

Yet another great Dragonskin - 2 teams of 7 youth members each spending 4 days and 3 nights on the forest going from base to base and spending each night at an overnight camp with lots of activities, and the leaders running a base at VOC1 - an excellent adventure

With 2 teams of our Venturers getting ready to take on Dragonskin over Easter, the weekend was a good time to go on a shakedown hike, and ensure our newer members had some miles in the legs and nights under a canvas they'd carried, with a great starter hike down in the Royal National Park. At the same time the unit was also represented in the Cherub State sailing event.

With lots of enthusiasm in the unit for climbing and abseiling, it was great to hit the St Peters Climbing centre, and have a go at the big climbs, the bouldering and the caves. Always good to do some old favourites like the spire, and test out new routes and challenges, and of course, a good chance to brush up on the foosball table skills.
