At Five Dock Outside School Hours Care (OOSH), we recognise that childhood is a unique stage of development. OOSH provides quality childcare for children out of their home environment. At Five Dock we aim to provide a warm, safe and stimulating environment which meets the needs of each child and fosters each child’s self-esteem. We treat each child with respect and emphasis is placed on creating a

stimulating and positive home like environment. Each child is encouraged to explore and follow individual interests and to develop at their own rate both through structured and unstructured activities as well as self-initiated play. Our Cultural Diversity and Anti-bias policy reflects our commitment to individuals, irrespective of gender, race, ethnicity, beliefs, disability or social background. We encourage all children to respect and value cultural differences. We will not accept/tolerate any form of prejudice or biased comments or attitudes. OOSH is an Approved Care, community-based facility where we strive to have parents and caregivers closely involved and which employs caring and experienced Educators. We believe that these factors contribute enormously to the quality of childcare provided by Five Dock OOSH. We believe in:

• Providing a stimulating, creative, fun and supportive environment

Yesterday we said farewell to Lauren by surprising her with a disco and pizza party.

Lauren thank you for all you have done for the Five Dock community over the past 7+ years. You have cared for, shaped and nurtured hundreds of children and your presence will be missed by everyone who has had the honour of knowing you.

Thank you to all the children and educators for making yesterday such an amazing day, one that Lauren will never forget.

From the Five Dock OOSH family, we wish Lauren all the best as she embarks on her new journey of motherhood and an exciting new career. You will be missed and we hope to see you around. 💕

Hello everyone!

As you might now be aware, my time at Five Dock Public School P&C Association OOSH is coming to an end, as I have resigned from my position as Assistant Director and Educational Leader here at the service.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for being a part of my Five Dock OOSH journey, and helping me find a career that I love and have a passion for.

My journey with Five Dock started in 2002 when I started my education at Five Dock Pre-School and then onto Five Dock Public School. This service has been a part of my life since I was in year 2, as I too attended OOSH and had the pleasure of having incredible educators, who I grew up to work alongside with. It’s safe to say, that this community has become like another family to me, which makes it so much harder to say goodbye to you all.

Over the past seven years, now working as an educator, I have met so many incredible families, children, educators, teaching professionals and community members who have taught and have helped shape me into who I am today, both as a professional and as an individual.

Thank you for welcoming me into your families lives, trusting me to look after your children and providing me with so many amazing memories that I will never forget. I hope in some small way that I too, have left a positive impact on you and your experience at the service.

My last day of work at the service will be this Friday the 3rd of November 2023.

I know I will still see you around the local area, and even if I don’t see you often, I will be connecting with you all further as I embark on the journey of parenthood myself early next year.

This isn’t goodbye, rather a catcha later and a see you soon.

Yesterday afternoon we had Drummoyne Fire Brigade attend our service for our annual Fire Safety Talk. The children learnt valuable life lessons through the talk as well as had the opportunity to ask questions to the firemen. Due to having extra time as no emergencies were called during the duration of our safety talk, the children also got to have a closer look at all the equipment in the truck and hop inside the fire truck. This was a highlight of many of the childrens experience.

Thank you to the Drummoyne Fire Brigade team for coming to our service again and providing an informative and memorable experience for the children! 🔥 🚒
