Do you remember in 2022 when CSOA members took Peabody to the Federal Court for unpaid sick leave on redundancy and won? ✊

The FWO has today announced that the remediation process that followed that CSOA win has resulted in Peabody entering into an Enforceable Undertaking after backpaying mineworkers nearly $5 million! 🤯

None of this would have been possible without the hard work of CSOA members who fought and won for their entitlements. Today we say thank you to those members and congratulations to all who have received their fair share for their hard work.

Our recent CSOA Delegate Training in Mudgee brought together union delegates from across the region for a valuable day of learning, collaboration, and skill building.

From strengthening workplace representation to building confidence in advocating for members, CSOA delegates shared experiences, developed practical knowledge, and reinforced the importance of standing together to create safer, fairer workplaces.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions. The passion and commitment shown by our delegates is what makes our union stronger every day.

⏰It's time for BMA to come to the bargaining table⏰

This week, the Fair Work Commission refused BMA's application to appeal the Majority Support Determination which gave CSOA members at Hay Point Coal Terminal the right to bargain for a first-ever agreement.

After more than 18 months of our members standing together and fighting for their rights, it's time BMA showed them the respect they deserve and met with CSOA members at the bargaining table.

💪 CSOA Goonyella members are standing together in their fight to protect and improve their conditions in an enterprise agreement. 💪

Their application to require BHP to commence bargaining with Supervisors, Coordinators and Technical/Autonomous Specialists was recently heard by the Fair Work Commission. A big thank you to workplace reps Derek and Shaun who made the trip to Brisbane to represent CSOA Goonyella members at the hearing!

With the sale of the Tahmoor Mine, our members can finally start to focus on the future of their jobs and their community.

CSOA will work with the incoming owners to ensure our members are provided with long-awaited certainty about their jobs and their workplace.

This outcome is an important step forward, and we will continue to support our members throughout the transition process.

The businessman is leading a consortium which includes GEAR that will restart operations after years of strain under the British industrialist’s ownership.
