TOGETHER, WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

When Freemasonry and Masonicare come together, generosity becomes practical support for people who need it most.

Through the Grand Master’s Sleepout, the WS Newcastle Chapter has worked alongside Masonicare and the United Grand Lodge of NSW & ACT over the past two years to raise funds supporting people experiencing homelessness in our community.

Entrusted with presenting $10,000 to Reach Homeless Services Newcastle, the WS Newcastle Chapter helped connect that shared effort with a local charity supporting people affected by homelessness, substance abuse, mental health challenges and social isolation.

Behind that presentation are brethren giving their time, organisations working together and a shared commitment to caring for others.

Our sincere thanks to the WS Newcastle Chapter for their dedication, and to Reach for the important work they do within the Newcastle community.

In that same spirit, the Grand Master’s theme of Humility, Integrity and Harmony comes to life through serving with humility, acting with integrity and working in harmony for the good of our communities.

We are incredibly proud and honored that Widows Sons Newcastle Chapter was entrusted to support the Grand Master Sleepout and connect with an impactful local charity, Reach Homeless Services Newcastle. Reach provides support to individuals affected by homelessness, substance abuse, mental health challenges, or social isolation within our community.

Last year and again this year, we have had the opportunity to work alongside Masonicare, and the UGL of NSW & ACT on raising fund for the Grand Master Sleepout, contributing to an initiative that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness within our local community.

Being delegated the responsibility of presenting $10,000.00 is both a privilege and a reflection of the trust placed in WS Newcastle Chapter to give back, support those in need and make a positive impact where it matters most.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside organisations doing such important work and to play our part in supporting our local community.

Freemasonry has never been the work of one man. Its future belongs to all of us.

In his recent address, the Grand Master reflected on the work continuing across our jurisdiction, from membership and education to ritual, buildings, communication and Masonic research.

Different responsibilities. Different people. One shared purpose: to preserve what generations before us entrusted to our care, while ensuring Freemasonry remains strong and meaningful for those who follow.

Our predecessors built the foundations upon which we stand. Our responsibility is not simply to admire their work — it is to continue it.

Where do lasting friendships begin?

Sometimes with a conversation over coffee. Sometimes while working together for the community. In Freemasonry, men of different ages, backgrounds and experiences meet on common ground, building friendships that reach well beyond a lodge meeting.

Across NSW and the ACT, those connections grow through shared learning, mentoring, social gatherings and community work. Whether supporting local charities through Masonicare, encouraging a brother or checking in on someone going through a difficult time, we put friendship into action.

There is something powerful about having people beside you who share a laugh, celebrate your progress and make time to listen. Within Freemasonry, that sense of belonging creates space to grow as a person while helping others do the same.

There is something remarkable about participating in traditions practised by generations of Masons before us while recognising that Freemasonry cannot simply live in the past.

The Grand Master’s September 2026 Communication Address reflected this balance, acknowledging our 138-year history while looking towards new approaches to leadership, education and the future of the Craft.

That connection between past and future is one of Freemasonry’s most intriguing qualities.

Its traditions provide continuity, its ceremonies encourage reflection, and its principles - humility, integrity and harmony- provide standards against which a Mason can examine his own conduct. Each generation also carries a responsibility to preserve what is valuable while ensuring Freemasonry remains meaningful for those who follow.

The Grand Master's address captures this beautifully, building Freemasonry “one brother at a time, one lodge at a time,” while carrying forward the lessons of the past.

For a man considering Freemasonry, the journey often begins with a desire for genuine connection, to be part of something greater than himself, and to become a better version of the man he already is.

Freemasonry offers that opportunity through friendship, learning, service and personal growth. It is about becoming part of a continuing story, learning from the past, growing in the present, and helping shape the Freemasonry we pass to future generations.

Behind every breast cancer diagnosis is a person, a family and a community whose lives are changed.

This October, the Pink Bloom Party in cooperation with Masonicare The Grand Charity NSW & ACT will brings us together to raise funds and awareness, stand alongside breast cancer survivors and support the vital research that offers hope for the future.

It’s an opportunity to honour those who have faced breast cancer, support those navigating it today, and contribute to the ongoing work towards better detection, treatments and outcomes.
