Freemasons NSW & ACT

Freemasons NSW & ACT Freemasonry is a large fraternal organisation that promotes moral and personal development amongst its members.

These include caring for others, helping those in need, and acting with Humility, Integrity and Harmony. Freemasonry is a self development system

Freemasonry is founded on and practices three Grand Principles, these are:

Brotherly Love - Mateship and Camaraderie with other Masons beyond the walls of the Lodge

Relief - Caring for and supporting each other. Charity in the local community

Truth - That the Divine, Moral and Natural laws are with all certainty true.

Freemasonry in action.

While many people know Freemasons for our traditions and fellowship, our real impact is often found in the communities we serve.

Congratulations to the Brethren of Elysian Lodge 418, together with Lodge Blacktown Phoenix Order of DeMolay, on hosting a highly successful Charity Paintball Event that raised an incredible $8,000 for Blacktown Meals on Wheels.

With support from a Masonicare Interaction Grant and the generosity of those who participated, this event demonstrated what Freemasonry is all about—bringing people together, building friendships, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

For more than 50 years, Blacktown Meals on Wheels has helped local seniors maintain their independence through meal delivery, home assistance, and vital social connection. We are proud to see Freemasons supporting organisations that provide such important services within our communities.

The presence of our Grand Master, MW Bro Khris Albano, made the day even more special, highlighting the commitment of Freemasons across NSW and the ACT to community service and charitable giving.

This is Freemasonry at its best: local people supporting local communities.

Well done to everyone involved.

There’s a moment in every Lodge where a man walks through the door for the very first time… and nobody yet knows the impact he may one day have on the world.

In 1904, a young ex-pat from England joined a Masonic Lodge in Sydney. He was a decorated soldier, certainly—but at the time, just another candidate taking his first steps into Freemasonry. What followed was a life of extraordinary service: war hero, Governor of Queensland, Grand Master, mentor to Scouts, and a man whose legacy would stretch from Australia to India.

Freemasonry has always been about more than titles or status. It’s about helping good men grow into men of character, resilience, humility, and purpose. Every Mason begins the same way: with curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a desire to become better than they were yesterday.

The next time you hear about Freemasonry, remember this: behind every great contribution to society is often a man who first committed himself to self-improvement and service.

Most people walk past monuments without ever asking what stories they hold. But tucked beside the railway line in Lithgow stands a rare Masonic cairn that tells the story of ordinary men who helped shape an entire community.

Freemasonry in the Lithgow Valley stretches back more than 170 years — from coal miners and railway workers to community leaders and even an Australian Prime Minister. It’s a reminder that Freemasonry has never been about status or secrecy, but about men striving to live with integrity, purpose, and service to others.

The Freemason’s Ashlar is more than stone and granite. It’s a symbol of legacy, brotherhood, and the impact good men can have on the communities around them. Read the full story and discover the history hidden in plain sight.

Brethren, the time is fast approaching for the Grandmasters Sleepout, are you registered?

Homelessness is something many people see, but few truly experience.

The Grand Master’s Sleep Out provides an opportunity to spend one night outside at participating Masonic Centres across NSW & ACT and gain a small insight into the reality many people facing homelessness experience every day.

On 13 June 2026, Masonic Centres across NSW & ACT will come together to help raise awareness and support organisations working directly with those experiencing homelessness within our communities.

Participants may either attend the sleep out in person or support the initiative through a virtual donation.

Further details, registrations, and donations are available via the QR code on the poster.

Freemasonry encourages men to become the best version of themselves — not through perfection, but through constant improvement. Even something as simple as learning how to present yourself properly can build confidence and self-respect.

The traditions around Masonic dress aren’t about ego or status. They’re reminders that how we show up matters. Men from all walks of life come together as equals, united by shared values and a desire to grow.

If you’ve ever felt like life needs more purpose, structure, or connection, this article offers an unexpected glimpse into why Freemasonry still resonates with so many men today.

Freemasonry is often associated with history, tradition, and a sense of curiosity for those looking from the outside. What frequently comes as a surprise, however, is the very real and practical compassion Freemasons demonstrate in local communities every day.

Recently, the Brethren of Lodge Benjamin Pryor visited Soul Hub in Newcastle, a centre dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness. Their contribution of $6,000 was not simply handed over by wealthy benefactors — it was raised through community-driven efforts such as trivia nights, sausage sizzles, and support from Masonicare the official charity of Freemasons NSW & ACT.

Behind every dollar raised were conversations, teamwork, volunteer hours, and a shared desire to help others with dignity and sincerity.

Could Freemasonry be the kind of community, purpose, and connection you’ve been looking for without even realising it yet?
