It is with overwhelming sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Tracey Ayton.

First and foremost, Tracey is a beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She was the founder and CEO of Little Heroes Swim Academy. She was also it's heart and soul.

Tracey was a force and we are heartbroken.

Having fought breast cancer with everything she had over the past 3 years, putting up the kind of fight her late father and boxer Stu would be proud of, she is no longer in pain. We are comforted that Tracey passed peacefully, surrounded by love, held tightly by Rod and her boys.

We will grieve. We will grieve tremendously. In time, we will also reflect on what a life Tracey lived. A life in which she gave so much more than she received.

Over the past 25 years, Tracey’s dedication to inclusion and giving voice to those without one, has left an enduring impact on literally thousands of children and families. For many families, these were relationships forged during their toughest of times, with Tracey’s support often extending beyond the water. By founding Little Heroes Swim Academy 15 years ago, she created a world for all families and students to enjoy, to be embraced, to be seen, to be included. It is a legacy we are now entrusted with and are resolute in continuing.

Tracey was a mentor to so many, a guiding light.

There will be so many stories of her enormous empathy, kindness, chutzpah, chaos, resilience and humour waiting to be brought to light. Some may be apparent only upon closer reflection, maybe even overlooked simply because they weren’t outliers, they were just Trace being Trace. Over the coming days and weeks, our wish is that as many stories as possible are shared here and broader still, so that every story has a reader and every story has an audience.

Whilst Tracey has nurtured all that Little Heroes is over the past 15 years, her greatest triumph and truest joy is family. It is to Rod, Dean and Danae, Brett and Skye, David, Jane and her grandchildren that we send our deepest of love and gratitude for sharing her with us all.

💙 At Little Heroes Swim Academy, we believe every child deserves the freedom, confidence, and joy that comes from being in the water. For many of our Little Heroes, the pool is the one place where they can move freely and feel truly included, but safe access equipment is essential to make that possible.

We’re currently fundraising for a new sling attachment for our pool hoist, along with vital maintenance on the lift that gets wheelchair users safely onto the pool deck. These aren’t extras, they’re what make inclusive swimming possible.

👏🏼 Huge congratulations to our incredible team member and swim mentor, Amelie Springett-Kelly, who has officially been selected for the 2026 Australian Para Pan Pacific Team and will be competing in California this August at the Pan Pacific Paralympic Swimming Championships.

🏊🏼‍♀️💪🏼Amelie Springett-Kelly also powered her way into two finals at the Australian Swimming Championships, showcasing the determination, dedication, and resilience that inspire so many within our swimming community.
