The Summer Analyst Internship Program is a four-week opportunity for aspiring investment bankers. Interns gain exposure to the challenges and rewards of a full-time investment banking role through hands-on experience, structured training, and close interaction with our experienced team.

The program runs between December 2026 and February 2027, with flexibility to accommodate university exam timetables and academic commitments. You will gain real exposure to corporate advisory and investment banking, working alongside senior bankers on live transactions while developing practical skills through structured training and day-to-day deal involvement.

We are looking for students with:
- A strong interest in corporate advisory and investment banking
- Excellent academic performance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive and professional approach

The Equity Research team at Jefferies is responsible for conducting fundamental research on companies across this broad range of industries, including collecting and analysing data, researching suppliers, vendors and customers, etc. Summer Interns engaged in the Equity Research program will work with a Senior Equity Research Analyst and will be involved in due diligence, financial modelling and writing research reports.

What we look for in a candidate

We look for candidates who are eager to make an impact by doing real, hands-on work and participating on active deal teams. Successful Jefferies Summer Interns are able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written and verbal communication skills. The work is fast paced, challenging and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate.

Candidates who apply should typically have an outstanding academic achievement in finance, economics, accounting and/or Law and be in their penultimate year of study. We also hire Summer Interns who have studied a variety of degree disciplines such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Jefferies Australian Summer Internship provides students with an unparalleled experience within the investment banking industry. During their time at Jefferies, Summer Analysts will gain an opportunity to develop a diverse range of technical and analytical skills and apply these in real-world situations for Jefferies’ clients.

The program is offered from November to February, during which time interns have 12 weeks of work experience to develop a diverse range of technical and analytical skills and apply these in real-world situations for Jefferies’ clients. Our intern program is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in investment banking. Our program offers an excellent summer internship opportunity and a clear pathway to a future Graduate Analyst role. We have a strong track record of extending Graduate Analyst offers to high-performing interns the following year.

Summer Analysts will have unique exposure to a broad range of coverage areas across M&A, Equity Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets, and have the ability to create a lasting network of peers, junior and senior bankers, both locally and globally.

What we look for in a candidate

Candidates should have a strong academic record and although a background in finance, economics or accounting is a plus, we will hire interns who have studied across a variety of disciplines.

Candidates who apply should ideally be completing the penultimate year of their Bachelor's or equivalent degree, with outstanding academic achievement and seeking a summer internship with a pipeline to 2027 full-time employment.

This is an exciting opportunity for STEM students or women studying a degree in finance to immerse themselves in the finance sector and learn about investment banking.

The paid internship program begins with an intensive full-time placement during the June/July university winter break, transitioning to a structured part-time engagement till December 2026. Interns will be embedded directly within the investment team, gaining exposure to live transactions and the full investment lifecycle.

Full-time: End Jun/Jul 2026 (5 days x 4 weeks)
Part-time: Jul – Dec 2026 (~3-4 days/week)

Intern responsibilities
- Supporting due diligence on prospective infrastructure investments across origination, ex*****on and deal closing
- Conducting industry, market and counterparty research to inform investment decisions
- Building and managing financial models
- Assisting in the preparation of investment memoranda and internal presentations
- Reviewing transaction documentation including term sheets, credit agreements and legal materials
- Contributing to portfolio monitoring and value creation initiatives

Successful candidates will demonstrate
- Strong academic performance in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Law or a related discipline
- Genuine interest in infrastructure, private markets or alternative investments
- Solid financial modelling and quantitative analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Eligibility Criteria
- Currently enrolled as a penultimate/final year undergraduate student at an Australian university
- Anticipated graduation between mid-2026 and end of 2027
- Available for full-time commitment during end Jun/Jul 2026 university break
- Available on a part-time basis from Jul through Dec 2026
