🦘🦉Displaced animals need you. Please give them a voice. 💚

Share this article by Shannon Corvo from ABC News about the plight of local wildlife in Fred Caterson Reserve.

🦘🐿️🐍Many animals, including wallabies, possums and snakes are suffering because The Hills Shire Council has permitted Glascott to erect fencing which encloses many times the acreage of bushland area specified in the tender documents. No wildlife impact studies were completed to assess the effect of the fencing on animals.

As noted in the article - the council "declined to respond to this specific allegation" - probably because the situation is completely indefensible.

🥀🪦🕊️R.I.P - Democracy is dead in the Hills Shire.

👀 Deals done behind closed doors such as secret lobbying and backroom negotiations degrade democracy by eroding public trust, silencing scrutiny and allowing vested interests to override the public good.

⁉️ So WHY is The Hills Shire Council so determined to conceal how public money is being spent on our public Crown Land?

💲Secrecy breeds the suspicion that our council is acting for the privileged few rather than the Hills community.

🚫 First, there were secret discussions in 2017 about moving Woods Rugby to crown land in Fred Caterson Reserve and now, a motion to discuss the establishment of a public transparency register is deemed confidential!

🔻No wonder trust in The Hills Shire Council has fallen through the floor.

💚❤️Dr Mila Kasby Hills Shire Councillor - Greens and Tina Cartwright - Labor Councillor both stood firm in their commitment to transparency by refusing to go behind closed doors to discuss the motion put forward in item 13 at last week's council meeting. When the meeting was shut to the public and the media, they walked out of the Chambers, leaving the liberal members of council in a state of uproar.

The meeting continued for a further 1hr and 20 minutes, discussing the Transparency Motion in secrecy.

🙃Oh, the irony!

The NSW Environment Protection Authority has issued an official Clean Up order - but who is paying for Glascott's non compliance?

While the environmental cost is huge and far reaching to the Hawkesbury River - It appears that the rate payer is being slugged to help sort out Glascott's mess, with Hills Shire Council workers and vehicles involved in the Clean Up today along Caterson Drive.

Despite the "Clean Up" having been supposedly completed, sediment laden water continues to flow into Cattai Creek.

The newly installed sediment controls have been installed in areas with known threatened species.

At tomorrow night's ordinary council meeting (26 May 2026) item 13 is a Notice of Motion for the – Establishment Of a Public Transparency Register For "Community" Crown Land Leases.

❗The council has decided that any discussion about creating a public register for decisions relating to leases over our Crown Land will be treated as strictly confidential.

Fred Caterson Reserve is Crown Land - What do they have to hide?
