👀 When meetings happen behind closed doors it's an EPIC FAIL for p***c trust.

In Jan 2020, senior executives continued to hold meetings in the council coffee shop, to plan an elite rugby precinct for an out-of-area elite club on PUBLIC LAND, funded with PUBLIC MONEY. 🚨

Oversight is needed to ensure transparent process is safeguarded.

🌳 Despite construction and the loss of habitat, endangered Powerful Owls are still living in Fred Caterson Reserve. Now they need protection from the super-bright TV broadcast lighting planned for the site. 💡❌

⚖️ Next week (26 & 27 Aug), Fred Caterson Champions Inc. will be in court on behalf of the community, challenging The Hills Shire Council to protect this critical owl habitat.

🏏 Why did the Hills Shire Council dump plans for a new cricket oval in Fred Caterson Reserve in preference for an elite rugby union precinct?

🐀The community smell a rat!

Council has no answer because it is inexplicable that they would give our precious playing fields to Eastwood Rugby Club rather than local sporting teams such as -
Castle Hill RSL Cricket Club
Castle Hill United FC and
Rockets Castle Hill RSL Football Club

With thousands and thousands of local Hills Shire residents playing Football NSW and cricket.com.au it beggars belief that council plans to licence the fields to an elite, out-of-area rugby club.

WHY is council dedicating $16.6 million dollars of public money to build 3 new playing fields to become the new home ground for Woods Rugby?

This is a blatant land grab.

Thank you to Dr Mila Kasby Hills Shire Councillor - Greens for raising this important issue and addressing the growing lack of public confidence in the fairness and transparency of The Hills Shire Council’s decision-making process.

👀The Hills Shire Council vote to reject transparency and full disclosure of secret meetings.

Thanks to Dr Mila Kasby Hills Shire Councillor - Greens, Tina Cartwright - Labor Councillor and Jane Grevtseva East Ward Hills Shire Councillor for standing up for the Hills community and demanding accountability, transparency and good government.

The current ICAC investigation Operation Rosny hearings are in the headlines, repeatedly warning local governments about the corruption risks of undocumented lobbying and unmonitored access, and yet the Liberal dominated Hills Shire Council stick their heads in the sand and attack the proposal to improve transparency and minimise corruption risk.
