Pass it on Clothing & Co

Pass it on Clothing & Co Local Sydney Charity with DGR providing clothing + connection to those experiencing homelessness.

Pass it on Clothing & Co is a registered Australian Charity with DGR status based in Sydney which puts your apparel, shoes and accessories donations directly in the hands of those who need it most.

Founded in September 2016 by Chris Vagg and Olga Puga, Pass it on Clothing & Co has been instrumental in providing quality men’s and women’s clothes donations to Sydney’s homeless community, working

to make charitable clothes giving more direct, efficient and effective.

The idea for Pass it on Clothing & Co stemmed from a house move for Chris and Olga and a resulting wardrobe cull. Many of the pieces to be thrown away were expensive and near new and needed to be given a new appreciative owner.

Chris began researching traditional charities and was struck by the fact only 0.5% of donated clothing was directed to welfare. The other 99.5% are the best clothes, kept and sold in charity stores, many are cut up into rags or sent overseas for resale.

This sparked the idea of taking clothing directly to Sydney’s homeless and disadvantaged community by setting up a free clothes service. Pass it on Clothing & Co takes clothing donations directly to those doing it tough, allowing people to visit and select new clothing directly.

Olga, as a professional stylist, offers compassion and support when helping people select the wardrobe pieces.

Pass it on Clothing & Co offers this service free of charge.

Pass it on Clothing & Co has now provided over 350,000 pieces of clothing to those experiencing homelessness over the last 9 years at more than 1000 outreach services.

The benefits are truly positive, not only physically, but by also impacting the self-esteem and self-worth of the recipients.

The next step for Pass it on Clothing & Co is to provide a pathway out of homelessness into sustainable private employment + housing via The Pass it on Academy.

I woke up to the rain hitting hard outside.

Not the light kind either.

This is the kind that just doesn’t let up.

It’s loud and constant, like it’s trying to wash everything out.

Most people don’t think twice about it.

You grab a coat, an umbrella, you stay inside, you go about your day.

You’ve got somewhere to be warm when it’s over.

When you’re homeless, it’s different.

Rain isn’t just weather.

It changes everything.

If I step outside, I’m soaked in minutes.

There’s no “dry off and change later.”

I don’t have later clothes.

What I’m wearing is all I’ve got.

Once it’s wet, it stays wet.

Cold just settles in and doesn’t really leave you.

So I stay put when I can.

But staying put means not moving.

Not going to get food.

Not going to the places I usually try for a hot drink or something to eat.

Because even the walk there means arriving drenched, shivering, and already worn down before anything else even starts.

And you feel the hours pass in a different way when you’re hungry and stuck watching the rain.

Outside, I see people moving fast, with hoods up, heads down, rushing from one dry place to another.

Home. Work. A shop. A car.

Just somewhere warm waiting for them at the end of it.

That’s the word that sticks with you.

Somewhere.

Because when you don’t have it, you notice it everywhere.

Today I’m lucky to be in a shelter, out of the worst of it.

I don’t take that for granted.

But it doesn’t fix everything.

Tomorrow I’ll still need dry clothes.

Something warm that actually keeps the cold out.

Food that lasts more than a few hours.

And still I have the same problem of where to go when the rain starts again.

Rain is just an inconvenience when you’ve got a home to go back to.

When you don’t, it shrinks your whole world down to waiting for it to stop.

Meet Jason. ❤️

A true Parramatta character with energy you can feel from a mile away.

Jason always brings the big smile, the colourful style and plenty of personality.

Every time we see him, there’s a laugh, a story and that unmistakable Jason energy.

People like Jason are exactly why we love what we do.

It’s never just about the clothes.

It’s about connection, conversation and making sure people know they’re seen.

Keep shining, Jason. Never change. ❤️

Another freezing night in the city.

Every week we meet people who are just trying to get through another cold night.

A warm jacket, a hoodie, even a fresh pair of socks can make a real difference when you’re sleeping rough.

It’s bitterly cold, but people still line up and wait patiently for their turn to choose what they needed.

That’s what our Central outreach is about.

No fuss, no judgement.

Just turning up, having a chat, sharing a few laughs and making sure people leave with clothes they actually want to wear.

Huge thanks to everyone who keeps us stocked and keeps the truck on the road.

Cold night. Big turnout. Good people.

This smile.❤️

This is why we do what we do.

It’s never just about handing someone a hoodie, a jacket or a pair of shoes.

It’s about choice.

It’s about dignity.

It’s about stopping for a conversation and letting someone know they matter.

A fresh outfit might seem like a small thing.

But sometimes, the smallest things can change how someone feels about themselves, even if just for that moment.

And moments matter.

Clothing. Confidence. Dignity.

Chris recently had the pleasure of presenting at McGrathNicol’s monthly staff meeting in Sydney.

They’ve supported for eight years and are one of our valued Gold Sponsors.

Eight years is a long time to stand behind a small charity.

Their support has helped us keep our truck on the road, our outreach running and quality clothing getting directly into the hands of people experiencing homelessness and hardship.

We spoke about where donated clothing actually goes, the tiny percentage that reaches people as welfare, and why giving people choice matters.

We don’t hand people whatever is left over.

We bring good clothing directly to the street and let people choose what they want to wear.

A huge thank you to the team at McGrathNicol for backing us for eight years and giving us the opportunity to share our work with your team.

Nine years.

One community.

Countless lives touched.

Last week, on one of the coldest nights of the year, we were back in Parramatta doing what we’ve done every week for the past 9 years.

The temperature drops.

The crowds grow.

And every winter reminds us why this work matters.

For someone sleeping rough, a warm jacket isn’t just another piece of clothing.

It’s warmth.

It’s comfort.

It’s protection.

It’s dignity.

Since we began our Parramatta outreach, we’ve passed on more than 100,000 pieces of quality clothing directly into the hands of people who needed them most.

Not thrown across a table.

Not handed out without thought.

Chosen with care, in a space where people have the dignity of choice.

Every rack tells a story.

Every conversation matters.

Every volunteer makes a difference.

Every donation becomes someone’s fresh start.

To everyone who donates, volunteers, shares our mission or simply believes that people deserve to be treated with dignity, you are part of every warm coat, every smile and every moment of hope.

Nine years later, we’re still showing up.

Because homelessness doesn’t take a night off when it’s cold.

Tuesday nights at Central are about more than clothing.

They’re about dignity.

This line shouldn’t exist.

Not because people don’t need help, but because no one should have to wait on a cold Sydney footpath just to feel seen, warm, or worthy.

Yet every Tuesday, they do.

They wait patiently.

They chat.

They look out for one another.

And when it’s their turn, they gratefully receive a bag of curated clothes.

An outfit.
A jacket that fits.

A jumper that makes them feel like themselves again.

Because this community matters..

At Pass it On Clothing & Co., we believe clothing is never just clothing.

It’s confidence before a job interview.

Warmth on a freezing night.

The dignity of looking in the mirror and recognising yourself again.

Every person in this queue has a story.

A name.

A future that still matters.

That’s why we keep showing up.

To everyone who supports our work and believes in what we do, you are part of every conversation, every smile, and every moment of restored confidence.

Together, we’re proving that sometimes the right jacket really does change everything.

Tonight in Parramatta a donated Rugby Australia hoodie found the right person at exactly the right time.

It wasn’t just about keeping warm.

It was about being seen, having a choice, and walking away with something to wear with pride.

Moments like this remind us that every quality donation has the power to change someone’s night.

To all of our clothing donation box partners, thank you.

Your generosity becomes confidence, comfort, and dignity for someone who needs it most.

Every Tuesday night in the heart of Sydney, something powerful happens.

People gather not for a handout, but for choice.

They browse the racks, try on jackets, find the right fit, and walk away with clothing that helps them face another day with confidence.

Last night our Central outreach was busy from the moment we arrived.

Warm coats, jumpers, hoodies, pants and essentials quickly found new owners as hundreds of quality items were chosen by people doing it tough.

What stands out isn’t just the clothing, it’s the conversations.

The smiles when someone finds a jacket that fits perfectly.

The quiet moments of dignity.

This is why we do what we do.

Clothing isn’t just fabric.

It’s warmth.

It’s confidence.

It’s dignity.

And for someone sleeping rough or doing it tough, being able to choose what they wear reminds them that they matter.

To every donor and supporter, thank you.

Every item you’ve donated helped someone stand a little taller last night.

Clothing. Confidence. Dignity.
