CADETS SHINE AT PARRAMATTA OPEN

On Saturday, Lancer Barracks threw open its gates as part of Parramatta Open and our cadets were out in force to support the event.

The cadets manning the recruiting tent made quite the impression with visitors, young and old. They had the opportunity to meet and talk with former Chief of Army, LTGEN Ken Gillespie AC, DSC, CSM Rtd, along with Federal and State lawmakers including Senator Jess Collins, Senator for NSW and the Hon Anthony Roberts MP, Member for Lane Cove.

By closing time, 715 ticketed visitors had passed through the gates, exceeding the 400 we were anticipating. Our cadets ran a sausage sizzle throughout the day feeding the volunteers but also selling them to visitors to raise funds for the NSW Lancers Memorial Museum.

Congratulations to the volunteers from Museums of History NSW for highlighting Lancer Barracks to the community. We thank everyone who took the time to visit Lancer Barracks and support the event. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

203ACU WELCOMES NEW RECRUITS AND PROMOTIONS

Following the July school holidays, our largest number of new recruits have now joined 203 ACU bringing plenty of new faces and changes to the unit.

Among these changes, we are pleased to have promoted the largest number of Cadets and NCOs, including CDTWO2 Le-Surf to CDTWO1 and CDTSGT Costin to CDTWO2.

To accommodate the latest cohort of recruits, the unit has raised a second Squadron with CDTWO2 Costin taking up the appointment of Squadron Sergeant Major.

We congratulate all those who have been promoted, as well as those who have successfully completed their respective courses. We look forward to seeing what everyone achieves in their new roles.

Praiseworthy Action // It's not often that our cadets receive foreign awards, so it was indeed an honour for CDTWO2 Le-Surf to receive the "ACCT UK Praiseworthy Action Award" for his actions during a family holiday to England.

In April 2026, CDTWO2 Le-Surf and his family were driving towards London, and were first on scene at a car on its roof. After ensuring the scene was safe, he contacted emergency services and assisted his mother in triaging and treating 3 casualties. When emergency services arrived he was able to provide a handover & statement.

CDTWO2 Le-Surf said "if it wasn't for cadets teaching me how to handle these types of situations and knowing what to do, I wouldn't have known how to control myself or help out."

The award was presented to him last week, by the Middlesex and North West London ACF Deputy Commandant LTCOL Pannell during the EndEx dinner in London.
