Local Matters at Grill’d Darlinghurst 🍔

On Friday evening, the Techie Australia team had the pleasure of visiting Grill’d Crown St, Darlinghurst to see our Local Matters jar in person and, of course, add a few tokens of our own!

We received such a warm welcome from the team, who took the time to chat with us about Techie. The food was fantastic, and we had a wonderful evening.

Throughout October, Techie Australia is one of three community organisations featured in the Local Matters program at Grill’d Crown St.

If you’re stopping by for a meal this month, you can place your Local Matters token in the Techie Australia jar to show your support.

Thank you to the Grill’d Crown St team for the warm welcome and for supporting local organisations through the Local Matters program.

Technology creates access. Access creates opportunity.

SAC is excited to partner with Techie Australia, focusing on bridging the digital divide for our mob in Albany.

Through this partnership, we are working to provide technology and support to our people, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to thrive.

Techie Australia provides access to technology for people and communities who need it most. It’s not just access to tech; it’s access to opportunities. Find out more about Techie Australia: https://www.techie.org.au/.

Behind every device is an opportunity waiting to open. 💻

Our volunteers have been busy preparing more laptops ready to head out to community organisations tomorrow.

Each device is securely prepared, matched and packed before making its way to a recipient who needs access to technology to move forward.

For some, that means being able to study and complete coursework. For others, it means searching for employment, accessing essential services or simply staying connected with the people who matter.

Technology is the tool.

Access is what creates opportunity.

And with another group of devices ready to leave Techie tomorrow, we hope they open some wonderful new doors. 🚪✨

Four devices. Four new beginnings.

Today, four refurbished laptops left the Techie Australia workshop on their way to people ready to take their next step.

One laptop is heading to a community organisation, while three are on their way to the Australian Refugee Association, where they’ll support people as they build new lives in Australia.

Every device has been securely data wiped, refurbished, tested and lovingly prepared by our volunteers before beginning its next chapter.

At Techie Australia, we believe technology is more than a device. It’s a pathway to opportunity.

A laptop can open the door to education, help someone apply for a job, reconnect families, access essential services, or simply provide the confidence to take that next step forward.

Thank you to everyone who has donated a device, volunteered their time or supported our mission. Every contribution helps create opportunities through technology.

From us to you… we hope this opens new doors. 🧡

Not everyone has a device to donate, and that’s okay.

There are still ways you can help.

🔧 Make a tax-deductible donation through our secure online donation portal.

📢 Share our mission with friends, family and colleagues.

💻 Help raise awareness of the digital divide and the impact technology access can have on education, employment and connection.

As a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible and directly support our mission.

Every share, every conversation and every donation helps create opportunities for people across Australia.

Want to make an even bigger impact? ✨

Consider organising a technology donation drive at your workplace, school, community group or organisation.

Many people have unused laptops, phones and computers tucked away that could help someone in need.

By bringing together a group of people, you can help recover dozens of devices that might otherwise remain unused or end up as e-waste.

Techie Australia can work with organisations to help coordinate collection opportunities and give technology a second life.

Together, we can bridge the digital divide while reducing e-waste ✅.

Want to help bridge the digital divide?

One of the easiest ways to support Techie Australia is by donating technology you no longer use.

We’re always looking for:

💻 Laptops
🖥️ Desktop computers
📱 Mobile phones
⌨️ Computer accessories

Many devices sitting unused in cupboards, spare rooms or office storage still have plenty of life left in them.

Our volunteers securely wipe all data, refurbish suitable devices and redistribute them to people experiencing digital disadvantage across Australia.

Before you recycle it, consider donating it.

Your old device could become someone else’s opportunity.

Techie Australia wouldn’t exist without volunteers.

Every device that comes through our workshop represents hours of work behind the scenes. Devices are sorted, cleaned, tested, securely wiped, refurbished and prepared before they can be redistributed to someone in need.

While the devices often get the spotlight, today we’d like to recognise the people who make it all possible.

Our volunteers generously give up their evenings, weekends and spare time to help bridge the digital divide and reduce e-waste.

Their skills, dedication and willingness to help others are what turn donated technology into real opportunities for people across Australia.

To every volunteer who has spent time in the workshop, collected donations, packed devices, assisted with administration, or supported Techie in any way: thank you.

Your contribution is making a difference.

Corporate technology refreshes happen every day.

Businesses replace laptops as devices reach the end of their lifecycle, teams grow, or technology requirements change. For many organisations, it’s simply part of doing business.

But what happens to those devices next can make all the difference.

These laptops were generously donated to Techie Australia following a corporate fleet upgrade. Instead of being forgotten in storage or sent for recycling, they now have the opportunity to be refurbished and placed into the hands of people who need them most.

For someone experiencing the digital divide, a laptop isn’t just a device. It’s access to education, employment opportunities, essential services, and connection with the world around them.

By giving technology a second life, we’re helping create opportunities for people while reducing unnecessary e-waste.

A huge thank you to the organisations that choose to donate their retired technology and help us turn yesterday’s devices into tomorrow’s opportunities.

As we approach the end of the financial year, we’d like to thank everyone who has supported Techie Australia’s mission to bridge the digital divide and reduce e-waste.

Every device we recover, refurbish and redistribute creates opportunities for people to learn, work, connect and participate in an increasingly digital world.

As a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, donations of $2 or more to Techie Australia are tax-deductible, and an automatic receipt is provided for your records.

More importantly, your support creates real impact:

🔧 $25 can help fund replacement parts such as batteries and chargers.

💻 $50 can cover the refurbishment of a donated laptop.

📦 $100 can help recover, refurbish and deliver a device to someone in need.

🌏 $500 can support larger community and educational technology initiatives.

We are committed to transparency and ensuring every dollar supports our mission of connecting people through technology while keeping valuable devices out of landfill.

If you’ve been considering supporting Techie Australia, now is a great time to make a difference.

Together, we’re helping close the digital divide, one device at a time.
