Beyond the screen: The Doll by Bolesław Prus
With Netflix’s new adaptation bringing The Doll (Lalka) to international audiences, we invite you to a special online evening exploring the literary work behind the series.
Step into Prus’s world of love, ambition and social divisions, and discover the complexity that makes this Polish classic such a rewarding read. Together, we will discuss its unforgettable characters, explore what the screen adaptation preserves or reimagines, and consider why the novel still speaks to us today.
Whether you have read The Doll, watched the series, or are simply curious, you are warmly welcome. Bring your questions, your impressions and a cup of tea for a thoughtful, friendly conversation.
Join the meeting with Dr Magdalena Piotrowska-Grot, Assistant Professor at the Department of Theory of Literature, University of Lodz, hosted by Ewelina Ellsmore, Head of Culture at the Polish Australian Chamber of Commerce.
