Ashfield Pirates FC

Ashfield Pirates FC Ashfield Pirates FC is one of the fastest growing soccer club in the Inner West located in Ashfield.

The Club was founded by Jean Kouriel in 2015 to cater for Grassroots football. Since then, the club has all girls teams and All Age Men's teams as well. Jean Kouriel the Founder of Ashfield Pirates FC has been involved in football for over 30 years and most recently was the coach and age coordinator of the local Inner West club. Due to lack of support from the club and a need for a local club for

such a young sports driven community, Jean together with a few local parents started this new venture “Ashfield Pirates FC”

We are very passionate about making this club stand out and be a community football club. We encourage those parents & children that just want to have fun to be part of the game we all love - soccer. We are also very competitive too and we want to really encourage those boys or girls that are "guns" to make the regional teams and become our future Australian representatives. Ashfield Pirates is about Fun, Team Work, Fair Play & Respect and this will be the message to get across the entire club.

💜🏴‍☠️ REPRESENTATIVE HONOURS FOR FOUR PIRATES! 🏴‍☠️💜

Ashfield Pirates FC would like to congratulate four of our junior players who have been selected to represent Football Canterbury in the 2026 Representative League program.

⚽ Jura Jackson – U10 South West
⚽ Kieran Martin – U10 South West
⚽ Noah Rizzo – U12 West
⚽ Ellery Catasta – U12 West

To be selected for these representative teams is an incredible achievement. Each of these players competed against a large pool of talented footballers and earned their place through hard work, dedication, determination and a commitment to improving their game.

These selections are not only a reflection of the players’ efforts but also the support they receive from their families, teammates and coaches. A special thank you must go to our Pirates coaches who continue to invest their time, knowledge and passion into developing our young players and helping them reach their potential.

At Ashfield Pirates FC, we take enormous pride in seeing our players challenge themselves, embrace opportunities and achieve success both on and off the field. These selections are a fantastic reward for the effort these young footballers have put in throughout the season.

Pictured are Noah Rizzo and Ellery Catasta, who will proudly represent the U12 West team, while Jura Jackson and Kieran Martin will represent the U10 South West team.

Congratulations once again to all four players. The entire Pirates family is incredibly proud of your achievement and will be following your representative journey with great interest throughout the tournament.

💜⚽ FEMALE FOOTBALL WEEKEND – AAW5 ⚽💜

The final match of our Female Football Weekend at Pratten Park brought an incredible day of football to a close as our Ashfield Pirates All Age Women’s Division 5 side took on St Barnabas in a fiercely contested encounter.

Played in fantastic spirit, sportsmanship and determination, both teams put on a wonderful display of community football. The match remained competitive throughout, with the Pirates narrowly going down 2-1, but the effort, commitment and teamwork shown by both sides was outstanding.

What makes this team's performance even more impressive is that this is a brand new squad formed for the 2026 season. In a short period of time, the players have built strong friendships, a positive team culture and are playing some excellent football. Week after week, the team continues to improve and grow in confidence, which is a credit to every player involved.

A special mention must go to coach Leah Sawford, who has done a fantastic job leading the team in its inaugural season. Her dedication, leadership and support have helped create an environment where players can develop, enjoy their football and be part of something special.

The final whistle also marked the conclusion of an incredible Female Football Weekend at Pratten Park. Across 5 matches we saw fantastic football, outstanding sportsmanship, wonderful support from families and friends, and a celebration of the continued growth of girls and women’s football within the Pirates community.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, played, coached and supported throughout the day. We are already looking forward to doing it all again in 2027.

What a weekend. What a club. What a future for female football at the Pirates. 💜☠️

💜⚽ FEMALE FOOTBALL WEEKEND – AAW4 ⚽💜

The celebrations continued at Pratten Park during our Female Football Weekend with our Ashfield Pirates All Age Women’s Division 4 side taking on Leichhardt Saints in another fantastic showcase for female football.

Played in tremendous spirit, sportsmanship and competitiveness, the match was a great example of what community football is all about. Both teams competed hard throughout the game while continuing to show respect towards each other, the referees and supporters on the side lines.

Led by coach Sarah Godman, the Pirates were able to gain the upper hand for much of the match and came away with a strong 3-1 victory in front of a fantastic crowd at Pratten Park. The energy, enthusiasm and support from everyone involved helped create another memorable moment during what was an incredible day for female football within our club and community.

A very special thank you once again goes to our Under 10’s Girls, Under 12’s Girls and Little Pirates players who proudly walked the Pirates team onto Pratten Park before the match. 💜⚽ FEMALE FOOTBALL WEEKEND – DAY 2 ⚽💜

Day 2 of our Female Football Weekend at Pratten Park featured a fantastic match between our Ashfield Pirates All Age Women’s Division 3 side and Marrickville Red Devils, with the game finishing in a hard fought 1-1 draw.

From the first whistle to the final minutes, both teams played the game in incredible spirit with great determination, sportsmanship and respect shown throughout the match. It was fantastic to see two competitive sides battle it out while continuing to showcase exactly what community football should represent.

One of the standout aspects of the match was the respect shown towards the referees by both teams, officials and supporters. The positive atmosphere around Pratten Park created a fantastic environment for female football and highlighted the strong culture being built within the women’s game across our local community.

The sidelines were filled with energy from both sets of supporters who cheered their teams on in a positive and respectful manner all afternoon. Moments like these are what make community football so special and why Female Football Weekend was such a major success for our club.

💜⚽ FEMALE FOOTBALL WEEKEND – THE PIRATES WAY ⚽💜

💜⚽ HELP US SHARE THE PIRATES SPIRIT WITH CHILDREN IN GHANA ⚽💜

A couple of years ago, the Pirates family came together to donate old Ashfield Pirates uniforms to children in Ghana who simply don’t have the same opportunities many of us have here in Australia.

Seeing children proudly wearing the Pirates purple on the other side of the world was something truly special. 🌍💜

Now we’re doing it again… and we would love the support of our entire Pirates community.

We are calling on all players, parents, coaches, managers and supporters to donate any previous seasons clean Pirates uniforms, football boots or sneakers that are still in good condition.

Football is their passion just like it is ours, and we want these children to experience football the Pirates way. ☠️⚽

📍 Pratten Park Canteen
📅 Saturday 16th May | 9am–11am
📅 Sunday 17th May | 9am–11am

✅ Please ensure all items are washed before donating.

🙏 We are also looking for large storage/IKEA bags to help pack and organise donations for shipping.

This is bigger than football.
This is community.
This is compassion.
This is the Pirates way. 💜

💜🏴‍☠️ GUZMAN Y GOMEZ PIRATES PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 🏴‍☠️💜

Every single week at the Pirates, we are proud to recognise players from across our club who have stood out not only for their football ability, but for the way they represent the Pirates spirit both on and off the field.

Our Guzman y Gomez Player of the Week awards are about much more than scoring goals or winning games. These awards celebrate effort, teamwork, sportsmanship, encouragement, determination and players who give everything for their teammates every time they pull on the purple jersey.

Whether it’s a player showing courage, supporting their teammates, never giving up, playing with respect or simply giving 100% for the team, these are the qualities that make the Pirates family so special.
