Kids Giving Back Kids Giving Back mission is to Create the Next Generation of Generosity

Kids Giving Back provide hands-on, age appropriate, meaningful volunteering opportunities for young people ages 6-18. Our mission is to create the next generation of generosity, our vision is to create a better more accepting society, based on empathy and understanding, one child at a time. Our work has a double impact - benefitting communities who are assisted by young people volunteering, as wel

l as impacting young people and families as they experience the joy and wellness benefits of giving back. At a time where the world is in crisis on so many fronts, the benefits to our young people and communities could hardly be greater. Kids Giving Back was established in 2012, we are a non-denominational organisation and we work with families and schools across Greater Sydney.

Remember our Winter Warmers Appeal? ❄️

We asked our community to help us provide essential winter items to people experiencing homelessness and hardship across Sydney.

Yesterday, 60 (yes, sixty!) sleeping bags were delivered to our community partner Rough Edges in Darlinghurst, ready to help keep people doing it really tough on our streets a little warmer at night.

A BIG shout-out to everyone who donated and to one of our superstar YCMs who raised an incredible $500 towards the appeal 🙌

We love seeing our community come together to help people who need it 💙

Forget the socks and do something GOOD this Father’s Day! 💚

Our next Community Weekend falls on Father’s Day weekend, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, so bring Dad, Grandad, a father figure, carer or another special grown-up and spend some quality time together cooking, packing and helping people doing it tough across Sydney.

💙 Saturday 5 September | Little Helpers
For kids aged 5–7 + their grown-ups

💙 Sunday 6 September | Family Cook4Good
For kids aged 8+ + their grown-ups

Because Dad probably doesn’t need more stuff. But doing something GOOD together? That’s a gift worth giving.

We recently had the fantastic Gordon Brothers team bring a group of their clients to Kids Giving Back for an afternoon of hands-on volunteering, and what a wonderful group of people! 💛

A huge shout-out to Matt for making it happen and for choosing to bring everyone together for an afternoon of giving back.

There’s something pretty special about stepping outside the boardroom, rolling up your sleeves and working side by side to do something meaningful. You connect, have fun and share an experience that lasts well beyond the day.

Thank you Matt 🙏 and the whole Gordon Brothers team for spending the afternoon making a difference with us. We absolutely loved having you and your clients at Kids Giving Back!

If your business would like to get involved in a Corporate Cook4Good experience, we’d love to have you 🧑‍🍳🥘🍚🥗🍽️

We’re wrapping up National Youth Volunteer Week with another group of our Youth ChangeMakers doing what they do best, giving back!

This time, we’re heading into the kitchen 🍽️

Cooking is just one of the many ways our young volunteers make a difference, preparing nutritious meals for people doing it tough across our community. Our YCMs also help facilitate our cooking programs, which prepare more than 1,000 meals every week.

Hear from our Youth ChangeMakers about what they get up to in the kitchen, why they choose to volunteer and how giving back makes them feel 👩‍🍳🥣✨

What a week celebrating the next generation of volunteers! 🙌

This year’s National Youth Volunteer Week theme is Your Year to Lead, and we love the idea that leadership doesn’t have to come with a title.

Sometimes it’s simply about finding something you care about, showing up and choosing to get involved.

We see it all the time at Kids Giving Back. Give young people meaningful opportunities to take action and they’ll show you just how much of a difference they can make 🙌✨

And if you’re aged 14 to 18 and feeling inspired to get involved, our Youth ChangeMakers program is a great place to start.

It’s National Youth Volunteer Week! Today, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our younger volunteers, Krish.

At just 10 years old, helping others has already become part of who Krish is.

This year, he is taking part in his eighth MS Readathon, having started raising money to support people living with multiple sclerosis when he was just two years old. Since then, he has continued to look for meaningful ways to make a difference.

In 2024, he started a Street Library to encourage reading, sharing and community connection. Last year, after learning about food insecurity, he decided to organise a Foodbank food drive entirely on his own.

Krish also joined hundreds of young volunteers at the Kids Giving Back Mega Volunteer-A-Thon, preparing meals for people experiencing homelessness.

His mum shared this beautiful reflection with us:

“Kids Giving Back didn't just give him another volunteering experience. It gave him a deeper understanding of service and showed him the impact young people can have when they come together with a shared purpose.”

The experience strengthened values that were already part of who he is and inspired him to keep looking for new ways to make a positive difference in his community.

Thank you, Krish, for reminding us that children are never too young to make a real difference 💙

It’s National Youth Volunteer Week! 💙 And as promised, we’re sharing more about some of our inspiring young volunteers.

First up, we’re getting out into the bush with some of our Youth ChangeMakers and the BushCare team 🌿

From getting their hands dirty and planting, to learning more about our local environment, it’s a great example of the many different ways young people can get involved and give back.

Hear from our Youth ChangeMakers about what they get up to at BushCare and why they love volunteering 🌱🌳🦔

National Youth Volunteer Week kicks off tomorrow, and we’re ready to celebrate the amazing young people getting out there, giving back and making a difference in their communities ✨

There’s plenty to celebrate too!

Recent research from the Australian Institute of Family Studies found that 83% of young people surveyed were concerned about at least one major social, economic or environmental issue affecting their generation, while 34% had volunteered in the past 12 months. Of those volunteering, 67% did so regularly.

It’s something we’ve seen firsthand at Kids Giving Back. Young people care about the world around them, and when given meaningful opportunities to take action, they jump right in.

This week, we’ll be sharing stories from some of our incredible young volunteers 💙 If you have a youth volunteering story you’d like to share, DM our team or tag in your posts this week so we can celebrate and share your story too!

Happy National Youth Volunteer Week 💙🧡
