$200,000 to honour Charlotte’s legacy and support more young people 🦋🩷
Charlotte O’Brien’s legacy sits at the heart of the Charlotte’s Wish Scholarship Program. Through their love, courage and determination, her parents, Mat and Kelly, continue to honour their promise to help other children feel seen, valued and supported.
Their organisation Charlotte’s Wish is the driving force behind this purpose, and BREED Australia is proud to help bring it to life.
We are grateful that BREED Australia will receive $200,000 of direct funding from the NSW Government to extend the scholarship pilot, announced by Minister for Mental Health and Minister for Youth, the Hon. Rose Jackson MLC.
This investment supports a tailor-made two-year program grounded in BREED’s established Learning for Good framework, developed over many years across diverse youth programs and settings. It helps young people strengthen their self-worth, connection, confidence and resilience.
Inspired by Charlotte’s legacy and her family’s vision, the scholarship is managed and delivered by BREED Australia, with the support of Charlotte’s Wish and the Step Into Action Foundation who originally designed the scholarship framework.
The pilot supports students in Years 6 to 8 through mentoring, movement, wellbeing education, therapeutic support and family engagement as they navigate the transition to high school.
A heartfelt thank you to Chris Barton and Step Into Action Foundation, who are funding the initial 18 scholarship places, preceding this additional government investment. Their belief, fundraising and advocacy helped make this beginning possible.
Thank you to Minister Rose Jackson and the NSW Government for supporting the next chapter of Charlotte’s Wish Scholarship, and to Mat and Kelly for the purpose and compassion they bring to this partnership.
Together, we are helping carry Charlotte’s legacy forward.
Everybody matters, every day. 🩷
