Manly Warringah Radio Society

Manly Warringah Radio Society The Manly-Warringah Radio Society (MWRS) is the Amateur Radio club serving Sydney's Northern Beaches We’ve been “surfing the airwaves” since 1923.

The Manly-Warringah Radio Society (MWRS) is the Amateur Radio club serving Northern Beaches and North Shore areas of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. If you are in or around Manly, Warringah, or Pittwater shires, and you’re interested in ham radio communications, electronics, or technology in general, you’re welcome to “catch a wave” with us any Wednesday evening from 7.30pm at the clubhouse in

Terrey Hills. The Society actively encourages “new blood” into the wonderful hobby of Amateur Radio. We provide training courses and exam certification to help members and friends attain their Amateur Radio licence, and to upgrade their skills and qualifications. On the air, the society maintains a number of analog and digital voice and data repeaters, which are freely available for use by all Amateur Radio operators. We also get on the air for “nets” most days. We also have numerous social events, radio expeditions, special event activations, and more.

A big welcome and thank you to all the Scouts and Guides who have been celebrating JOTA with us. Check out our blog post about it here: https://www.mwrs.org.au/2025/10/18/jota-joti-2025/.

We had lots of fun with you all today, getting on the air with HF (High Frequency - shortwave) communications, playing Battleships via radio. Building a radio station and exploring Morse Code.

Looking forward to more of you visiting us at out clubhouse tomorrow (Sunday), and a reminder that we host visits throughout the year - talk to your leaders if you'd like to come back for more! 🙂

As of 8pm this evening, all club services are back online, including our popular KiwiSDR.
We had a new BeagleBone Green computer board flown in from DigiKey in Thief River Falls, Minnesota (https://maps.app.goo.gl/JdvrYCSi9yTg9Jjv5), to replace the one damaged by the recent lightning.
