The Australian Miniature Pony was derived from selectively breeding down in miniature, the smaller known pony and horse breeds. Decades of dedicated breeding, refining height and conformation, has achieved the breed as it is seen today. As the name suggests, size is a very important requirement and the Ponies must never exceed 87 centimeters. The Australian Miniature Pony Society Inc was formed in

July 1974 at Liverpool, NSW, as a result of an inaugural meeting attended by a number of people intent on creating and promotion this unique, new Australian Pony breed. From this and many subsequent meetings, the Australian Miniature Pony Breed was registered in its own right. Interest has spread to all Australian states, with small, quality breeding stock being in great demand.

We are fast approaching Sydney Royal Easter Show - 2026.

There is always a wonderful display of Australian Miniature Ponies on show. It’s wonderful to see our members exhibiting their ponies at the prestigious event.

We are also fortunate that there will be a grand parade on the same day the Miniature Ponies are competing so if you’re at the show, look out for our wonderful little equines participating in the Grand Parade in the evening program.
